  1. Thanks for the advice. I felt so guilty because I had finally reconciled myself with attending that particular school (plus the admissions staff was the most helpful and communicative). But I got into my dream school and couldn't really turn that down since the first wasn't offering me financial aid.
  2. I'll be at Mailman this fall (as of yesterday) which is way up at 168th St. Not planning on living up there but won't have any classes on the regular campus.
  3. I was just put into this situation as of today. However, the first school has not yet cashed my $300 deposit yet. I can cancel that check through my bank while letting them know about my decision not to attend, right? That's money I'd like to keep (and put toward my new school).
  4. I emailed admissions wondering where my decision was, and it turns out one of my LORs didn't get there until 1/23 even though my app was in by 1/6. So I'm in the next group of applicants to be reviewed and should hear up to 8 weeks after 3/31. I'll probably accept an offer to an MPH program by then because that is a long time. Oh well.
  5. I can't believe I paid so much to be kept in the dark this long. As of April 8, I still have not heard a peep from 4 schools, got a 1 rejection, and am on 2 great waitilists. Am hoping for an acceptance somewhere, and am thus too scared to reach out to schools first, in the event that I just hear more rejections that much sooner.
  6. Still nothing. Would it be gauche to ask for a refund?
  7. Still nothing as of 8:24AM EST 4/1. Maybe we're on their April Fools list.
  8. As of 2:36PM EST, I have not heard anything from Wagner. My last name begins with a P, so maybe I'm in the afternoon/evening notification group. Or maybe they took my application fee and forgot about me.
  9. I'm on 2 waitlists and am still waiting to hear anything from 4 other schools (all masters programs). One of the waitlists is for my absolute dream school. Any advice on how to kindly ask them about the size of the waitlist and to insist that I will keep waiting for them, regardless of financial aid or considerations of time? Can this be done without showing my desperation?
  10. I also got my reject email on Saturday, and it was actually kind of nice to receive something so definite (so far I've just made waitlists on MPH health policy programs). Now if only NYU Wagner could pick a day to send theirs.
  11. I'm still waiting on any word, too. Hopefully I'll at least get waitlisted, but who knows. Someone got that earlier today on the results board.
  12. $22k would be completely possible. I lived in Philadelphia on an AmeriCorps stipend of $11k gross and manged not to accumulate any debt. Apartments can be found within walking distance form Penn for 400 (if you're willing to do a house share) - 600. My friend has a studio apt. for about $640 but that includes utilities and everything. I could recommend other areas as well (Northern Liberties/Fishtown close to the El, South Philly a little bit east of Broad, Graduate Hospital) that should fit your price range.
  13. Still no decisions either way from any of my 7 masters programs (2 MPP, 5 MPH). And now Spring Break for many schools. I hope I don't have to start the "APRIL IS IT!!" topic.
  14. Texas, I am in the exact same boat. No emails, no updates to apply yourself, but no reject yet. Ugh.
  15. One of my schools included this in their "we have all of your materials email": Thanks for being such a competent applicant and having everything ready for review. I really appreciate it. I wish you all the best for a successful outcome! Nice to know that even if I get rejected, I was a competent applicant. I might print that out and put it on my fridge because it actually makes me smile.
