  1. Woohoo! Just got waitlisted at Michigan. No real information except that they called it "selective, short" and that they anticipated there would be admits off the list.
  2. Congrats everyone on some fantastic acceptances over the past few days. Is there anyone else here who has yet to hear either way from Michigan? I have to assume its a no, but I never did receive a rejection email during the wave that went out, nor has my Wolverine account been updated. Maybe, I will just have to give the admissions person a call to confirm my not getting in.
  3. My Yale funding package came today, and it was great news - tuition + health + 26k. I imagine this bodes well for poli sci phds as well. I think I let the trolls on the front page get to me on this front, because I was actually kind of worried, even with Yale's insane endowment.
  4. Me too - finally got the not at all unexpected rejection email. I am mostly happy to know, and it wasn't a top choice, so I am not as crushed as I will be when I finally get the rejection from Michigan that HAS to be coming soon, you'd think. I can't believe I haven't heard from them yet.
  5. The be honest, the whole MIT application process left me scratching my head. I found their application form the least intuitive. My very good friend, who applied to a non poli sci program, had to have her references send in jointly signed reference forms and reference letters by mail only! (That meant that he had to sign the form, express it to his references who live across the US, and then have them express the same form to MIT along with the letter). For a school that has such a great computer science and technological innovation reputation, its bizarre they can't fix their own application processes.
  6. Sucks about these Michigan rejections. I assumed I had been rejected when I didn't hear two weeks ago, but I haven't heard anything today. Did the message come out as a mass email two hours ago, or are the rejections trickling out? I am struggling not to delude myself into any sudden gasps of false hope.
  7. I couldn't find any discussion of Yale's funding packages on this board. Has anyone claimed the acceptance to Poli Sci with "20%" funding? Does this mean 20% less or, outrageously, one fifth of the usual stipend?
  8. No, this is only the WWS PhD, not the regular politics dept. I have no idea when the regular politics dept will meet, but I have to imagine decisions will be made considerably sooner (if they haven't already been made).
  9. For those waiting on WWS PhD, the WWS ad comm will only meet the week after next, and then it will be two weeks after that before offers are processed and sent out. So there is likely a good deal of waiting still involved.
  10. Wow - whoever is posting fake Princeton and Yale results is both immature and cruel. Totally, tangentially, I got good news from Yale today for the one non-poli sci program I applied to. In for the PhD in Forestry and Environmental Studies, with funding details to follow.
  11. Thanks. This is helpful to know. I applied to a more out there cluster (Science, Tech and Env.), but its line with my proposed dissertation, which is focused on climate change. I imagine that it would be a bit more limiting than pol econ, but its good to hear that there is generally some career flexibility that from a very top PhD in Public Affairs.
  12. Crimsonblue: Curious for your thoughts on the Princeton WWS program - do you have the sense that you can leverage the degree into an academic job anywhere except a policy school? Or is it also your impression that the degree is a ticket into the higher echelons of thinktanks and public service. I ask only because I've had some positive signs I might get an admission (applied to a different cluster than you), and have been trying to think through what the career implications of taking that direction would be.
  13. Congrats on the Michigan admits! Thats a really great achievement. For those of who heard today, did anyone receive an official email, or was it all phone or email contact from a professor in your subfield?
  14. Congratulations to everyone who has already heard back from some great schools. Thought I would take the opportunity to de-lurk, given how helpful this board is in managing the ridiculous angst of waiting...on the Poli Sci PhD front I applied to Berkeley, MIT, Michigan and Stanford (IR). I assume Stanford is a big no, but that isn't really surprising given I knew I was a bad fit for the faculty. I've also applied to non-Poli Sci programs Kennedy, Woodrow Wilson, and Yale. Anyway, good luck to everyone!
