i think that was me! i got a phone call this morning asking if i was interested in an interview at some point during the following two weeks, and due to timing/schedules, we ended up having the meeting 10 minutes later. the phone call just went really, really well - we had a ton in common in research interest wise, and he happened to know my graduate advisor really well. he let me in on the spot, but again i think that was pretty unusual - i don't think that if you have an interview and don't get in right away that it doesn't mean they don't want you. i think it goes back to committee first usually. anyway, he said that they had just screened for the first round of applicants and i made it on the second round for interviews, so i think that the process is just slow for them. it's currently their spring break so i imagine a lot will be happening this week!
ps: i was just rejected from harvard and university of washington two days ago
