  1. I plan to figure it out when I get there, look at apartments etc...
  2. I think it has to do with the rating of the schools, when they accept a student and that student declines, their rating goes down (that's what I was told), so maybe they don't want to take the risk with someone that previously declined their offer.. or maybe it's not even true, don't know...
  3. Congradulations! I paid my deposit yesterday exciting!!
  4. Hi hillaryanne, Someone wrote on the freakout forum that if you decline an offer they might not accept you again next year. I have no idea if its true or not, but maybe it's something you should consider... maybe you could ask Chris about it?
  5. Thank you Derpderp, this is really helpful! would you suggest looking through craigslist?
  6. Hi Hillaryanne! Congradulations on the funding, any additional amount is money that you won't have to work for later to pay back - even if it's not what you expected it's still better than before. I understood that on-campus housing is more expensive than living in the city. I was also told that it's better to look for something in a 1 mile radius of the school, because public transportation doesn't go in the direction of the school. Are you planning to rent a place before you get there?
  7. Rinehart! Mount Royal was too small an offer to begin with, It wasn't an option... but I think Rinehart is better for me also in terms of the program. What about you? have you made your decision yet?
  8. Hi Dryheat, I wrote to the contact persons in the admissions office. They contacted the financial aid dep.
  9. Hi guys, this is a note for everyone who is still debating and for everyone who is considering re-applying next year! Both schools I was debating between sent me e-mails today that they approved my request for additional funding - one approved another 5,000 a year and the other 7,000 (in both cases the total sum was higher than what they post on their website as the maximum scholarship you can get!). This was great news for me. If you've been accepted to a school you wanted but with not enough funding, don't hesitate to ask for more! I think they all expect that and on many occasions they approve, at least some of the amount you ask for. If they don't you can still attend or decline, there is nothing to lose. Good luck to everyone with your applications and decisions
  10. Hey guys, I just got an e-mail from Chris that they approved my request for additional funding, not as much as I asked but a significant amount! It definitely clears my doubts, I am going!
  11. Thanks guys, I sent an e-mail to the NYAA saying that I decline their offer, and they increased my scholarship.. It is such a difficult decision and I have to make it tomorrow...! the programs are so different too.. I think I decided on MICA, the difference in scholarship is not that high and the cost of living in Baltimore is lower so I guess it would even out.. Why can't I do both at the same time? or have two life times...
  12. What would you do if you have a not very good school but in New York (The New York Academy) and that offers better scholarship (but not a full one), and MICA - more expensive and in Baltimore - to choose from? I have to make a decision in two days.. aaahhh!

  14. per semester, here: http://www.mica.edu/Admission_and_Financial_Aid/Graduate_Admission_and_Financial_Aid/Graduate_Scholarships_and_Financial_Aid/Teaching_Internships.html
  15. Yes I think they know that students want that TA for their resume, and they're using it..
  16. it's not 800 a month, it's 800 for the whole semester...
  17. I got into Rinehart and Mount Royal, I was offered 1/3 tuition to Mount Royal and 1/2 to Rinehart. neither is enough for me. I am an international student so I don't have the option of Federal loans... Mount Royal isn't even an option. I am trying to get more scholarships from other sources, hopefully something will work out..
  18. I heard that Maren is really nice, and in general it seems really professional - the works of the students etc.. there is also a common work space that is bigger than the individual studios. Do you know how many ppl applied? just curious.. I still find it hard to believe I got in...
  19. Hi TMB8272 What did you hear about Rinehart? I know its a small program, other than that not much...
  20. Hi! I also got into Rinehart! maybe we'll be co-years . I've never been to Baltimore but I heard it's got the advantages and disadvantages of a sort of suburb - it's affordable and you can live in a walking distance from the school, but it's not as exciting and eventful as New York.. I personally prefer it that way. Do you have other options?
  21. Got an acceptance e-mail from MICA - for both Mount Royal and Rinehart!!
  22. Hey guys, what's the name of the other forum - the one about financial offers etc?
  23. Sorry to hear that! No, I heard nothing yet.. maybe they have so many rejection e-mails to send out that they haven't got to my name yet...
  24. maybe, I have no idea... I am from overseas so I hope they won't send it by postal mail, it can take 3 weeks just to get here...
