  1. Hey, To those who are waiting for UofT health promo: the deadline for me to accept/reject my offer was May 27th (or 28th..I forget). So there may be spots opening up now-ish as people reject the offer. I declined the offer on that day. Good luck
  2. I got a email acceptance to UVic (finally) yesterday. I have declined the offer so it may make room for others who are looking into the program.
  3. Hi Kayden, Yes sorry that was a bit harsh. It is true that many people who go there probably got in elsewhere too, but I do think it the cost makes it more elitest/unattainable to many. Also I agree with you that there are many reasons why people may want to go to UWO. UWO is a good school with a good reputation so you won't lose out by going there, you just may carry a little bit more debt than people graduating elsewhere. I would suggest that you find a facebook group for MPH at UWO (from some previous years) and just try to message a few people in the groups to see what their opinions are. Best of luck.
  4. Hi, I thought about this program for about a second. Then I saw that the tuition was rediculously exensive and it is a fairly new program. I don't know why they think they can charge that much for a program. Especially since Public Health jobs are not that lucrative. Maybe it is because the Principal of UWO made 924K last year....got topay him somehow! (http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/windsor/amit-chakma-western-university-president-to-give-back-half-of-924k-salary-1.3018799). $20 000 or $30 000 (however much it is), is highway roberry, and clearly this program is only for rich people who did not get in elsewhere. My 2 cents.
  5. Yes, I think you would just lose your deposit.
  6. Hey, For McGill I recieved an email informing me of my acceptance, but my uapply still says in review - so make sure to be checking your email that you provided. Like you, my 1st year was bad so I was worried about grades, but I spoke to the grad people last year and they put more focus on 3rd and 4th year, which I did well in. I finished my application on Dec 15th. I don't think they look at them as they come in or have a "top and bottom" of a pile, so I wouldn't worry about that. Hopefully your two good references will pull you up make a difference, I do think that is important. I also have almost a year of related work experience. Good luck.
  7. Congrats! I just got this too. I will probably accept. It will be ~3000$ for me as a Quebec resident vs. ~$9000 at other schools. Plus I like the program. I'm sure this is a formality they would not send you this email and later rescind the offer.
  8. Hey! Thanks for your response it is very helpful. I got the impression that their online system worked fairly well and you have confirmed it. I applied to the social policy stream. I have a bachelor of arts in environmental studies and economics, so a bit of a weird one but I think it actually works for that stream. On the website it just says that "My file has been forwarded to the department," as it has for the last month or so. Hopefully we hear back soon! Good luck!
  9. Hey all, I applied to McGill, UofT (Health promotion), Uvic and another school outside of Canada. Haven't heard anything back yet. I have no idea when UVic sends out acceptances but i assume McGill will be first and UofT will be last. My 1st choice is McGIll (more math/stats focus), last choice UVic (Online program). I kind of regret not applying to UdeM but I will probably give it a try next year if I don't get accepted anywhere else! Since UVic is online, I would probably do it from Montreal. But does anyone know if the time difference would make it a pain? Or can you watch lectures whenever you want? It doesn't have much info on their website. Best of luck to everyone.
