When you sign into ROSI, on the RIGHT there is a section for financial status. Within that box, there should be a credit for $150 -
For those on the waitlist for Laurier 2-year program, I'm 75% sure I'm declining my offer so I think there is hope for you guys!! Toronto was my first choice and I never thought I would get into Laurier! So, I immediately accepted my Toronto offer. However, now it's hard to decline an offer from Laurier, as I know they also have a great SW program!!!! I live in Burlington, so location isn't the worst as I'm in the middle of both campuses.. but I'm thinking Toronto has better connections in the GTA??? I'm thinking out loud here..... as I'm struggling with my decision. I know you all did your research, but in your opinion/from what you've heard from others in the SW working field... are they looked at equally on your resume?

If you received a scholarship with your UofT acceptance, it was on a separate piece of paper in the admission package sent in the mail. It's a scholarship based on "academic merit" that says it will be processed in September. In terms of offering money/TA positions, I think it depends on the Master's program... I am currently finishing up my Master's in Psychology.. and since it's research, we receive research scholarships and a TA position each semester, but that is not the case for all graduate programs. From what I've read on this forum, it seems like York may be the only program that guarantees a TA position?? but don't quote me on that!!

Hi everyone, Congratulations on all the acceptances! For those who haven't heard yet, don't give up hope yet!! I have a question UofT vs. Laurier.. I was accepted into UofT a few weeks ago and I immediately chose that one bc that program was #1 in my mind. I also didn't think I would ever be accepted at Laurier due to the number of hours of experience they generally require. However, I found out this morning that I did get into Laurier! What does everyone think about the two schools, comparing them to each other? - reputation, training, program courses, placements, The only comparison I've ever heard is - Laurier has better training while Toronto has better placements.. do you think this is true? do you have other comparisons? Thanks for your help!

Congratulations to those that received invitations today! To everyone else, don't lose hope! There are DEFINITELY more acceptances coming your way, it's not even April yet!!!! Edit - I know it's easier said than done not to freak out - but try to take care of yourselves during this terrible waiting period!

I think we've figured out that no news is good news!!! I am finishing up my Masters in psychology (research) right now.. My thesis is on evidence-based interventions for children with learning disabilities and co-occuring mental health challenges, but I've had a change of heart and want to be on the other side of things... service delivery, policy implementation, etc instead of only research! My grades are in the A range in both my undergrad and grad program, but my experience isn't outstanding - distress line volunteering (2 years), program assistant with children with Autism (2 years), and other short-term volunteering roles in the children's mental health field. I think my experience in research is what helped me, as UofT is a very research oriented program! I wish you (and everyone else) the best of luck and hope we get to be classmates in September

I have a question for anyone who has an opinion on this: So, I will be accepting my UofT offer for the 2-year program and my plan as of now is to commute into the city from the Burlington/Hamilton area.. likely via the GO train and TTC. What is everyone's understanding of the program structure? Is it every day 9-5 that we would have class, is practicum full time, etc? I've been really tossing with the idea of commuting or moving to the city. Obviously, staying with my parents and commuting would be most economical (that might not be obvious, actually.. with costs of commuting)... but what do you guys think? How tough would commuting be, in your opinion? Thanks for any input you may have!!!

Congratulations, again! I have a question, though.. and it may be silly - Did you apply for any type of scholarship through UofT or was it just an act of generosity and praise for your credentials!? I'm so anxious to receive my package! (I'm in the Hamilton/Burlington area so I'm not sure when that will be)
