  1. @pineapple15 and @out.to.sea That's awesome!! I look forward to meeting you guys in the fall Unfortunately I don't know too much about housing on or around campus because I'm from Edmonton originally and live at home. However, from what I've heard from my friends who live on campus, most graduate students or students in professional programs rent rooms/basements in the University area. So I would definitely consider looking on Kijiji for anyone that is renting places in the University, Belgravia or Mckernan areas. They are close by to the LRT (train) station and only one stop away from ECHA and the other Health Sciences buildings. There's also lots of apartments around campus that prefer graduate students so I would consider looking at places like Newton Place or College Plaza, however I don't know how much they go in terms of cost. Sorry guys, I wish I could be of more help in terms of housing! But if you guys have more questions about Edmonton/campus feel free to PM me
  2. @pineapple15 That's awesome!!!!! Hopefully we will be classmates come Fall That is definitely a difficult decision to make. Unfortunately I'm not familiar with the Public Heath program at UBC because I focused on schools with the Health Promotion stream, so I won't be of much help there :S But I have spoken to quite a few U of A alumni and they were all raving about the program! I may be a little biased since I did complete my undergrad at the U of A, however I have heard nothing but good things. They definitely have a great rep as far as MPH programs go and from what I've heard the faculty and students are super supportive! Good luck with your decision
  3. Hey everyone!! I received my offer for recommendation today from the U of A MPH Health Promotion program!! I'm so excited!!! So for those of you still waiting to hear back from the U of A, they have started sending out offers so hopefully you'll be hearing good news soon :):)
  4. Congratulations to all of you who've been accepted! Super exciting! Just wondering if anybody who applied to a stream other than Global Health at the U of A has heard anything?? From the looks of things on the forum, only Global Health has been sending acceptances today so just wondering if anythings happening for the other streams???
  5. Ahhh ok, good to know. Thanks for the information, I appreaciate it!
  6. Hey, I believe someone had posted about this a few posts earlier. About last week or so! Also, do you know if the U of A has sent out acceptances for all the streams or just interviews/short list decisions for Global Health? I applied to the Health Promotion stream and haven't heard anything yet, so just curious.
  7. Awesome, I was beginning to feel the same way haha. Thanks for the information, I've been trying to contact the admissions office for more information but it's been impossible to get a hold of anyone. Yeah I heard the same for last year, but the one other person I was talking to who submitted their application near the deadline was saying they just got their verification email from SOPHAS at the end of February. So my guess is they've had to push the offer dates back while waiting for application verification? Any ideas about what the intake size is for this year??
  8. Hi all! I'm new to this forum but a long time reader! Just wondering if anyone has applied to or heard anything from the U of A? I know they started using a totally new system with the SOPHAS application this year but the wait is driving me crazy!!! This is my first time applying, does anyone know what their procedure is with interviews and what not as well?
