Does anyone know when Oxford decisions on colleges/funding will be made? I have an offer for an Msc in Anthro at Oxon, and an offer for a 5 year fully funded PhD program in the States. Many people are telling me to take the US offer and run. The US institution is a very good school but ranked approximately twentieth for my field, and since I plan to teach overseas after graduation anyway, Oxford would seem to carry more international clout. Plus I'd much prefer Oxford to the rural American south, in terms of living environment. Any advice?

Confusing. I thought the deal was meant to be that those who had been accepted had already been informally contacted. I had already kissed any hope of Columbia good-bye. Does this mean that there is a glimmer on the horizon?

The next two weeks bring us approximately to the end of the "first-round offers," so to speak. Let's suppose that someone had a concrete offer to a >safety-net school< but no offers to the school(s) of that person's deepest hankerings. Would it be wise (and fair) to wait things out to the bitter last second (ie, April 15) in the hope of gaining a place declined by someone else, or would such behaviour be wishful thinking at best? Do all schools notify of wait-list status? Would it be more prudent to cut one's losses and take up the offer at the safety-net school, or to get a job and try again next time applying to the dream school? Any musings on these questions would be welcome!!

Yes, I just got an an email reply from the Graduate Sec. who said that applicants would be notified of their status in the first or second week of March. ~~

Does anyone know when NYU plans to notify acceptances, or what size cohort is sleighted for this year? I read somewhere that someone had been contacted by a potential advisor.

Is it the consensus that all cultural anthropology acceptances for Berkeley have already been sent? There haven't been too many reported.
