  1. I got wait-listed at Columbia, so at least one was real. The notification came from GSAS.
  2. I'm one of those people who chose my undergrad institution based on price and not ranking. After attending public school in K-12, I came to my undergrad because financially it was the best fit for me, but I don't feel that has given me any disadvantage in applying to grad school. I've worked very hard here and I am pleased with the graduate institutions to which I've been admitted. Don't assume that someone with high aspirations was born with a silver spoon in his or her mouth. That being said, I know that there are some quality institutions out there not in the top 50, and I wish you great success.
  3. I was accepted there in late January.
  4. Looks like no news is good news today... no acceptances on the results page for Yale and I got (expected) rejections from Emory and Northwestern. Seems others did as well. They're really laying it on today!
  5. Who's claiming the two Princeton admits... one supposedly by email yesterday, and the other one by phone today?
  6. American/public law Edit: I just checked my calendar and I'll be out of the country March 12... so consider that a leg up!
  7. So every department is different, but I know at several departments at Emory, "interview" really just means "admit weekend." So hopefully you've got a good shot!
  8. So I guess since there are 5 spots and 3 have been claimed on this site, we can be pretty sure that's over with.
  9. Let's hope for the best and cross that bridge when we come to it.
  10. Yeah, I definitely feel you on that. That's why I added the disclaimer by saying I can't complain too much. For my subfield OSU and Madison are about as good as it gets, but I'm holding out for some others for some personal reasons. But if everything else came back as a rejection, I'd be really pleased to enroll at either school. It's easy to lose perspective in this whole process, so you're certainly right.
  11. OSU has it's admit weekend at the same time. My field is public law/judicial, so OSU and Wisconsin are both really strong. I'm definitely considering it, but I too am waiting for a few more decisions. It's kind of all up in the air! But I think we all are feeling that right now.
  12. It certainly seems that way. I have strong GRE and GPA (and thought also SOP and recs) and was also rejected at WashU today. I can't complain too much since I've got a couple acceptances and have a lot more decisions waiting, but with the rejection at WashU and likely rejection at Northwestern and Emory, I'm a little nervous about the more highly ranked schools on my list.
  13. I'm holding out hope that I'll be accepted at a school in an urban area... Columbia, Minnesota, Harvard and Berkeley would all be amazing.
  14. Hi everyone! Long time lurker, first time poster. Thought I'd jump in. Congrats to everyone accepted at Michigan! Were the acceptances all in a single subfield? I'm hoping that maybe the calls have only been made in that subfield and that I might still have a shot!
