  1. I believe the name does matter. There is a reason why people work hard to get into top programs. The name itself is closely related to network, program, quality of education, opportunities, and even getting jobs in both public and private sector. If the name did not matter why would people compete to get into a top school in the first place?
  2. Hi I am a student who just graduated from undergrad and applied to several international relations related programs. I got into several programs, but was waitlisted into my top choice (SAIS). I was wondering if it is OK to send one of the schools that I got into deposit (since waitlist is not a guarantee) and if SAIS happen to accept me later, then enroll at SAIS. Are there any restrictions in doing so? Does paying deposit mean that I absolutely have to enroll at that particular institution?
  3. Hands down Columbia SIPA-Tokyo GraSPP Dual Program. Not only the program is extremely difficult to get in, however when you have some background with Japan (I assume you already do), you are going to have wonderful experience with the program. Going for international policy studies and having more experience in terms of that particular field will help you better later in getting those government jobs later then limiting yourself to Asian Studies, but that is my personal opinion. Anyway good luck!
