  1. My top choice school answered me that the department already submitted admission recommendation to the graduate office and the online status in the graduate office reveals that the admission recommendation for me is on hold. What does that mean? I can still receive the offer, right? Many thanks!
  2. Where did you find your application status? I didn't find anything in my Loris webiste
  3. I am not quite sure the differences between applicants who are on the waitlist and who already received the first wave of offers. It seems like the waitlist applicants are less important and not better than those who received the offer (of course in the eyes of the POI). But sometimes, the selection process of the admission committee is so subjective. I kind of dislike people putting me on the waitlist and I feel like I am not being valued by the POI as she or he did not choose me at the first place. So, I don't think i will receive an offer if I was on the waitlist before. However, if that's my only offer, then there maybe a different story. I just want to know how do you guys think of being put on the waitlist?
  4. I emailed my POI for a status update, and she told me I was on the waitlist. However, the website is just forever "under review"... so I think usually is the POI who tells you whether you are on the waitlist
  5. Sounds like you will be paid as a research assistant... or just work for your prof and get paid.
  6. Did you apply to schools in North America? If so, I think your offer was probably mailed out, it just takes longer to go overboard if the school used regular post. It took about two months for my friend (from China) to receive the official admission letter from Canada. However, another school (UT) used UPS, so it only took about 5 days..
  7. Hi there. I had a similar experience. I contacted POI around November this year, all of them replied me. Only one said she wanted to interview whenever I think it's ready. When I was closing to my application, I emailed the POI to let her know i am ready for the interview, however she did not reply me and then I sent another one after a week. Eventually we had a Skype interview the end of January (before POI received my application). It went pretty well but we did not have any contact since the interview. At the middle of the march, I was quite worried about my application so I just sent her another email with my update CV and told her that hope my update CV will help my application. She replied and told me don't worry and I will receive an offer no matter what. I also sent the same thing to another POI, she kindly told me I was on the waitlist and my update CV could be helpful. I suggest you contact your POI, sometimes they are just busy and simply forgot replying you. If your POI relies you, you may tell whether you still have hope or not. I totally understand this is a really stressful period. All the best!
  8. Thanks guys! It actually makes me feel a lot better. I just have to be patience
  9. I think you should email your POI, they will give you an update.. that's what happened to me. One told me i am on the waitlist and another told me i will receive an offer.
  10. Hi Everyone, I am really panic now! I emailed my POI last weekand my POI replied me said I will be receiving an offer wecould talk abou the offer. I was exicted and emailed right after to tell POI how happy I am and I am looking forward to working with her. However, it has been a week, she didn't reply me and I didn't receive the official offer! I am very worried that there might be something wrong that I won't receive the offer... Anybody had similar experiences? Any comments will be appreciated.
