  1. Hey MKS, I'll PM you with that information. Looks like you have had a good amount of interest in your applications based on your acceptances/waitlists. What school are you leaning more toward accepting?
  2. Also, just to add to the mix of comments. One of the best things about Gainesville is that it is relatively close to so many of Florida's bigger metro areas (i.e. Jacksonville, Tampa, Orlando). Each of those cities having their own local culture and feel.
  3. Hey Ben, how come you don't want to live in Florida?
  4. Hi Ben, There is no comparison in my opinion. UF is definitely more prestigious and ranks higher than New Mexico across all levels. Also, Gainesville is a very nice place to live (I did my undergraduate there). Yes, if you want to remain in academia, the place you decide to go most certainly will make a difference. I am sure NMSU is a good school, but it is not in the same caliber as UF (top-tier). Remember, the money they offer you up front isn't everything. You can later find ways to fund your education that do not include loans. Just my 2 cents.
  5. I got admitted into the social psych. program. Super stoked! UF rocks!!
  6. Hi guys, has anyone here heard from UW-Seattle? I applied there but have heard nothing. I am sure that by this point they have already extended invitations to at least the interview weekend.
  7. You're welcome. I take it you also applied at Purdue? Kind of a bummer.
  8. I initiated one and received an email from the other two schools. I would be careful with this, because some advisors may be irritated at the perceived impatience on the part of the prompter. Other advisors may not look at it that way and may be more forthcoming.
  9. Alright guys, I received notification from my proposed POIs from UConn, NYU, and Purdue. They told me that they have already hand picked notified all the attendees for recruitment weekend from those three schools. All three schools told me that they are, more than likely, going to pick the admitted from the handful of individuals attending this event and that official rejection letters will be sent in the mail "sometime soon" for those not invited. The also said that the pool of applicants was "extremely competitive" this year and that most individuals were more than qualified.
  10. Yep, FSU, Northwestern, NYU, UW, Purdue. Any of them match with your list?
  11. That was exactly my preference. Cheryan told me she was passing on students this year and suggested Kaiser. A friend of mine applied to UW-Seattle last year and she said she didn't get her acceptance letter till really late, like the second or third week in March.
  12. May I ask what POI you applied to work with?
  13. Hi guys, New to this forum. Has anyone heard from UF, USF, BC, or Northwestern PhD. programs?? I'm near the point of going crazy from the anxiety. Ugh! I don't think I've ever wanted anything this bad, yet... It's the first week in February and I haven't heard from any of the 11 schools I've applied to! Come on, something has got to give.
