  1. I agree with everyone else that your GRE scores really don't have a big impact. My scores were 800Q 800V and 5.5AW, but I got no comments on that from the reviewers last year. The comments I got were focused on my research proposal and research background. I got an HM.
  2. Email... ___________ Thank you for your interest in the National Science Foundation (NSF) Graduate Research Fellowship Program (GRFP). We will be sending out notifications to all applicants by the end of next week. We appreciate your patience. ___________ A change from "we anticipate", "we hope", "we expect" to "we will", is refreshing!
  3. The waiting goes on... Jebus, did Carmen say next week at the earliest? The post above yours said March 19 and that is this Friday. Thanks.
  4. Hardest part about this fellowship is that with over 800 applicants, and notifications being made by phone instead of an online list or email, if the ones who are selected don't post - it basically means the only way to find out if notifications have been made is through calling the Javits Office. I actually received a phone call from a 202 area code last Friday, and it turned out to be a friend calling from DC, not the Javits office. I think he was wondering why I sounded disappointed when he said who it was! Seems like a good idea to make an electronic notification system, like the NSF does. Judging from this website, people love to check their application status online, which makes it all the more suspenseful for this fellowship when we can't check anything except our call logs on our phones!
  5. Here is a clip of the email from them... "We are running a little behind this year, due to the snow and the lateness of the review. I would guess that we will be able to make award annoucements by April 1 (hopefully earlier, but I'm leaving time for the Departmental clearance process)."
  6. Well, either that or none of the people who were selected posted on here because they were too ecstatic to type and are rightfully jumping around the room!
  7. I haven't heard anything yet. Might be a long couple of weeks if the delay goes that far... Anyone else?
  8. Called the Javits office last Thursday afternoon.
  9. What does everyone think their chances are of getting a Javits Fellowship? Post why, and some stats about yourself.
  10. Decisions delayed by big snow storm a few weeks back. "If you haven't heard from us by the end of March, you were not recommended for a Javits fellowship." Looks like some more waiting...
  11. Anyone heard from Javits yet? Those recommended are notified by March 1, which is next Monday. Guessing these will start going out this week! Not hopeful about my chances, but good luck to everyone.
  12. Yep, congress appropriated enough for 2000 new awards this year. Pretty exciting! That doesn't change the fact that my broader impacts were not great, so I am going 35/65 that I get it.
  13. Contact person at Javits said notification calls (for those recommended for the fellowship) are due out by March 1. March 1 is a Monday, so I am guessing they will all go out next week... Post if you hear anything. Good luck to everyone!
  14. Last year they were waiting on budget information, I think this year they will actually do it on time. My guess is April 2 (also a Friday).
  15. So, after calling the Javits people a few times, they finally found my "lost" confirmation that was supposedly sent in November. Gotta love that... hopefully they stay true to their deadline...
