  1. I hope that you guys can suggest some MA programs in Asian Studies (to be specific, AOS: modern China) that provide a financial package, most preferably for tuition fees. I know that some programs explicitly state that they do not fund MA students, but I'm hoping that I can gather some information from hearsay. I want to apply to a MA program because i want to spend more time on language and working with primary sources before I apply to a PhD program. Many thanks in advance!

Hi, I need your help here as I might not be able to fly into Chicago to view apartments. Can you suggest specific apartments in Hyde Park with a great view of the lake? Feel free to list any many as you could because I have a dogs and I am aware that quite a lot of the apartments only allow cats and/or small dogs (I have a bulldog/50lbs). Many thanks!!!
  3. Hi taiwanadian, Thanks for your reply. I will check with her early next week. I might be attending if I get a funded offer that covers the cost of the international tuition fees. it would be great if we could attend classes together!
  4. Any news from them? The Graduate Program Admin has been ignoring my emails...
  5. While I await for a couple of schools to make their decisions, one of the MA programs that I was admitted to was Guelph's. I do not know much about the program and its reputation and would like to hear your opinion on it. Thanks!
  6. Oops - I thought that you are currently at UofT, which made me wonder why you said no one's working on immigration.
  7. I am wondering what within immigration you are interested in... Contrary to what you've said, I think that there are quite a few scholars at UofT who work on immigration. To begin, there is a graduate program on "Ethnic, Immigration, and Pluralism Studies." Scholars in the sociology department that work on immigration include Eric Fong, Jack Veugelers, and Jeffrey Reitz, and they all work on quite different things within the study of immigration. There is also a full day conference today that addresses some issues in immigration under the wider topic of the effects of migration on Canada, for instance. Thus, should you consider a Masters program as suggested above, you might not want to write off UofT. Anyways - don't give up yet! It's not even the end of Feb!
