  1. Hi everyone, Just had a quick question about personal statement requirements. One of the schools I am applying to requires my personal statement to be 1 page, single space. It does not specify margin size. In your opinion, does this mean that I am free to explore different margin sizes? (My personal statement fits perfectly on 1 page after tweaking with the margins)
  2. Hi all! I wanted to know if anyone else was having difficulties with their transcript entries on CSDCAS? I am a bit confused on what exactly I should input for my subject. It says that we should enter information exactly as it shows on our transcripts, however, my transcripts categorize the subjects of my classes very broadly. For example, my intro to phonetics course is CSD 400 (phonetics and acoustics) however, according to my transcripts, the subject for that course is "communication sciences and disorders" as is all my major courses. Should I list the subject of this course as phonetics since that is technically the subject or list the subject as what my transcripts states (CSD)? Thank you all and good luck with everything!
  3. I was told by my counselor that a Biochemistry 241 course (Fundamentals of Biochemistry) would fulfill Asha's physical sciences requirement. However, someone recently told me that is not the case. Can anyone confirm this with me? Biological Sciences- Biology 100 (Human Biology) Physical Sciences- Biochemistry 241 (Fundamentals of Biochemistry) Social/Behavioral Sciences- Sociology 100 (Survey of Sociology) Thank you!
  4. Hi everyone, I just had a quick question regarding LORs. One of my professors had to go on an emergency leave and is not able to write my LOR. The only other superior I haven't asked for a LOR is my supervisor at work. She has known me for several years so she is able to speak on behalf of my academic achievements, work ethics and overall personality. She knows how much I value education and how I have always put my studies first. The only thing that concerns me is the fact that writing is not her greatest attribute (English is not her first language). In general, do you think graduate school admission committees look down upon LOR that are not considered "proper standard english?"
  5. Hi everyone, I will be visiting with the graduate program advisor at my top choice school next week. I have so many thing I want to ask her about, but I do not want to bombard and overwhelm her with my many questions. What are some questions you think are important to ask? Thank you for your time
  6. Hello! I am nearing the end of my undergraduate program so I'm pretty much taking a variety of elective courses to fulfill my university credit requirement. One of the courses I am currently taking is a course that I took three years ago. I am not retaking the class because I failed it or did terribly bad in (I got an A-), but because I want to see a different interpretation/perspective of the information, as well as gain new knowledge of the material since it is being taught from a different professor from an entirely different professional background. I loved this class so much when I first took it that I immediately jumped at the chance to take it again, but now I am wondering if it may draw red flags in my application. For example, the graduate admission committees might make conclusions that I retook this course for an easy A, or that I took the seat of another student and that I am taking up the time and efforts of the professor. I know i'm probably over-analyzing the situation, but I just want to make sure my application is at its best. Any feedback is welcome Thank you!
  7. I am currently pursuing a BS degree in speech and hearing. Would that then mean I am limited in applying to graduate schools that offer only a MS degrees (to match my BS degree) or does it not matter? Also, is there a difference between a Master's degree in speech pathology, communication sciences and disorders, and speech and hearing sciences? Will either degree fulfill the degree requirement needed to become a speech pathologist?
  8. Greetings everyone, I wanted to take a last spin on the GRE before applications are due (Jan. 15, 2016). Unfortunately, there are only 2 days left in November to take the test, but I have class/work on those days. Would December 15 be cutting it close with my deadline? Thank you in advance!
