Has anyone been able to complete the Perkins loan entrance counseling?
-
For anyone who is planning of applying for a loan, to complete the supplement form you will need to enter the institution and aid year. For institution enter htr01 and aid year 2016. When i was doing this i was unaware that this was what needed to be entered in order to pull up the form. If anyone tried and got confused this is what you need to enter. Good luck.

What class do you want to take? In the orientation they gave us a list of specific classes you need to take. If you are in the two year program there should not be a reason why that message should be popping up when you try to register.
-
That happened to me and to some other students as well. It was resolved and i was frustrated when i saw the classes i wanted to take filling up. Imma send you a message with the person you can contact.

Since you are going into clinical as opposed to one of the other practices Hunter offers, you should go to Columbia if you can afford it. Its a prestigious and internationally recognized school and if money is not an issue for you then go for it.

If you can't see something underlined at the bottom then its a mistake and it should be changing to under review soon.

Good luck. I don't know why it took so long for that question to be answered by 8 people. We also had 8 people and that same question and we all covered it in about 40 minutes. It took so long because the interviewer was asking us to elaborate and other questions. And if you weren't able to answer a question it should not be counted. Its not your fault time was not kept appropriately. And there are probably a few open spots. There are people who get accepted but they decline so they need to keep interviewing until the spots get fill.

Thanks. I got an email today that i think i should have gotten after i was accepted. I still have not had my cunyfirst account has not been reactivated so i dont know when i am due to register for classes or ask how much financial aid ill get. I have an EFC of 0 so i know ill get the maximum aid but it is taking too much and the longer i wait the less I'll get. Does anyone know how the Unsubsidized Stanford Loan works? Like how will the school determine how much to give me? I only need 5k a semester so ill need 20k. Will i have to reapply each semester or will they give me the full 20k at once?
-
Have you guys been put in the cunyfirst system? I sent my deposit on Tuesday and I received an email that they had received it on Thursday. How long did it take the school to contact you after you got the email that your deposit had been received?

I am going into the clinical method but my interviewer said she only interviews people who apply to clinical method snd that 3rd method that i cant recall. She did not asked questions specific to those methods. She stated that she only wants to determine if we are a good fit for the school and that she does not expect us to have knowledge of methods since that is why we are going to grad school for. So just be ready to talk about your experience and to answer why social work. Your interviewer will drill your responses down so dont be intimidated when he/she starts asking questions. Good luck

Am in!!! Sigh* the wait is over.

I don't know how your background is going to play into it. I am confident that hunter will make decisions based on your application and interview and determine if you are a fit for the school. I think you should try and contact Perry White or go to the school and talk to admissions. I also don't know how much time they said it would take for you to receive a response. I do think that you should have gotten a reply by now and it is possible that something is wrong and an error could have been made.

I highly doubt that's how it works. The way I see it is, you aren't rejected until you officially get a letter saying you are.
-
You should stalk them, professionally of course, for answers. It is difficult to get in contact with them but you can message with them through their website. Hopefully they can get you the contact information of someone you can call directly
-
Could you elaborate further please?
-
Received my invite yesterday. Registered for next Tuesday at 2. Is anyone going on that day?
-
My application status changed to pending interview. Am so excited. hopefully the interview invite will come quick. I know sometimes it will stay like that for weeks before you get the invite.

Sounds like you need to get into with the school and talk to admissions. Has the school sent you an email telling you how to proceed after acceptance? And since you are an international student, you get priority for dorms. Ask about the application and do that right after you submit the deposit. The commitment deposit form is at the bottom of your acceptance letter. Go to for instructions http://www.hunter.cuny.edu/onestop/finances/billing/pay-my-commitment-deposit If you are going to Silberman, the address where you should send the deposit is the same for the transcripts. For the visa go to for instructions http://www.hunter.cuny.edu/studentservices/is/newly-admitted-students

You can apply for loan forgiveness. It covers about 26k. Though the living arrangements is all you. Undergraduates are prioritize for dorms as are international students. And you might want to avoid looking for a place in the City because you will be broke by semesters end if you dont have money. So you either start looking now around Harlem and hope you can find something good. Also look in Brooklyn and the Bronx. The Bronx is closer and cheaper then Brooklyn. Not as glamorous but more spacious and less claustrophobic.

You should try to talk to advisor from Silberman then. Am sure they can help, if you can actually get a hold of them. Also if you become able to do non-matriculated it is good to speak with a counselor from the school you are going to do the credits and the school you plan to apply to to confirm that the credits will transfer because sometimes they don't. At the time, its best to plan as if you have been rejected instead of holding to the hope that you might get an interview. Sorry for sounding harsh, but I was at that stage last week but now I realize that it wont get me anywhere.
-
Yeah i got that same email. They do double review of all applications, unless they outright reject. It means we still have a small degree of hope. Though it certainly feels like they are just stringing us along just to reject us in the end. I applied for non-matriculated when i started to worry they would not accept me. I figure I could do 2 or 3 classes in that fall then apply to another school for spring and transfer the credits. Lehman College also has an MSW program and I will be meeting with a counselor so that I can get some advice as to what classes to take there so that i have no issue transferring the credits. Though I will also be applying for non-matriculated at Lehman to make it even easier for myself come spring.

It says that because it is still being reviewed by the committee. If you get invited for an interview it will change to "pending interview". Mine was like that until it changed to "hold" then "pending program decision". Which means that my application is being reviewed again because it was not moved for an interview the first time. So now am waiting for a final response. My friend's application was like yours also but she was invited to the interview and was accepted already. So its alright. You will hear from them eventually. Hunter is notorious for their horrible communication but they get there eventually.
