  1. I'm not sure any UL stats but a friend of mine (I met in the industry) seemed to hold his education in high regard. He said recruitment attracts a lot of big employers... Unfortunately because of the current market, it's a bit too hard to anticipate future hiring for when you complete your degree :/
  2. dicapino, I found this site too late to be much help, but if you're still looking for Spring '16 or after, USC has a pretty solid petroleum engineering program and I haven't heard of too many people being rejected. Their fall admissions deadline was in January, but might be useful to someone else in the future?!
  3. Is anyone still waiting like me? I inquired about my status in early March and was initially told notifications would be out "late March, early April at the latest." Now it's May and I'm still waiting. I contacted the department yesterday and they said that decisions for my program via distance learning wouldn't come out until mid-May at the earliest. I've seen people posting that they've been accepted to the program, but I'm not sure if they're doing the degree full-time or part-time via DL. Am I being waitlisted or rejected or have they really not gotten to those applications yet?! How is that even possible on a rolling admissions deadline? GAHHHHHHH! Waiting is killing me and now I'm anxious since I have to respond to admits very soon.
  4. seaninbuaa, I realize the "wow factor" of Cornell but OSU has one of the largest alumni networks, especially in engineering. I've lived and worked all over the country, in a variety of industries and positions (all engineering related), and I constantly run into OSU alumni. Many of the alumni actively recruit from their alma mater as well. Conversely, I've only met one Cornell grad in my experience. If I were in your position, the choice for me would come down to whether I want to pursue a career in academia (Cornell) or be a practicing engineer (OSU), but that's just my opinion on the matter. Good luck!
