  1. Hi, I have a Master's degree in Biotechnology from a reasonably well known Indian Institution and have a 2 years of experience working as scientist for a start up in a medical diagnostics rnd based start up. I'm planning to apply later this year for a PhD in Molecular Biology/Genetic Engineering/Synthetic biology in a university that allows me to also explore my passion in engineering. I have a little experience in these fields and have worked on projects during my ug that have me convinced that this is the general area I want to work in. However I am not convinced that I want to head into basic science research and believe that I would be happier in translational/application research. I am thus exploring the possibility of Industrial PhD's in Europe. I can't however find much discussions on these programs in the forums or even in other forums. My questions regarding the Industrial PhD programs are as follows : 1. How hard is it for a international student to convince a company to sponsor an industrial PhD? 2. What is the general opinion of Academia on Industrial PhD graduates? 3. What are the career options available to Industrial PhD graduates? 4. What do I need to do that is different from applying for a traditional PhD to get an Industrial PhD placement? Thanks in advance, Hope to get some knowledge.
