Aww but hey how are you so sure you won't receive an invite in the coming days that you put up a harvard rejection in your signature. Like its depressed the f*** out of me after you said they released them yesterday, but something tells me a big program like harvard does rolling invites. Hope against hope, i'm still keeping a little bit of positivity. The true heartbreak will be when MIT doesnt send an invite. Stay positive girl. In fact i'm more hopeful for you then for me. I'm just an international turned domestic with good research work to show. You're an Amgen Scholar, i've rarely seen them getting rejected

Thanks @peachypie, that was really helpful and also kinda prepared me for the worst from Harvard. Realized I'm in a much better situation, have much to be thankful to god for, and focus on. It probably is different @Extra Espresso, but always good to know. Lucky guy, your friend!

Thanks @peachypie for the reassurance, really needed that from someone who's been through the cycle before . I actually keep telling myself the same thing, but two things keep popping in my face regularly for me to ignore the importance of contacting a PI beforehand: 1) This might just be my case, but so far from all the people I've talked to currently in top 10 programs, i've heard NO one who's gotten in without contacting a PI there beforehand. Have you? Again, you're probably more experienced, some examples would be reassuring 2) Of all the applicants who've told me of an enthusiastic response from the professor to their introductory emails (apparently research matched closely with the professor's), 100% have gotten an interview, even with less than spectacular stats. Thank you so much for this though - it would be kind of a consolation if I don't get Harvard or MIT, since I got the first weekend invites for both my invites so far. I totlly didnt think that they'd extend invites even before the next set??! That's it then, as you said, I totally need to concentrate on blowing them away in the interview. Need 'em offers PS: I'm beyond sure the Harvard immuno invite poster was fake. Whoever you are, this is not done sir. You do not get to play at times when emotions are running high.

Well Yale notified on a sunday, since then I haven't been at peace even on the weekends. Blood pressure goes up every time phone vibrates

I'm having a Pre-Harvard Stress Disorder. I cleant up my inbox, unsubscribed to 90% of my emails, carefully emptied my junk folder, and overdosed on chocolates - all in anticipation of an email from Harvard this week. Will be deeply saddened if I don't up hearing from them on the 19th All the more anxious coz like a moron I didn't contact/email any professor before applying

I don't know if anyone on here is a soccer fan AND hates Jose Mourinho, but rewatching the highlights of Chelsea losing to Leicester City takes all my anxiety away and gives me complete peace of mind

@apple93Well honestly though I wouldnt call them more than like 3-4 times in 30 min intervals. Then call them once again around 4. But beyond that, as @biosci said, they're not going you reject you if you couldn't get to the phone. And breathe, you will be going to New Haven soon, irrespective if they pick up the phone or not. Congrats again!!

They're actually taking time to send out the emails, and it would be a slow death for you to wait till then. I'd honestly say keep calling them back till they pick up? Like you know, in 30 mins intervals maybe?

Jealous of all you guys who got interview invites from UPenn CAMB already The deadline for applications to the UPenn Biology graduate program was yesterday, god knows when will they even start to review the applications and send out the invites

@AgingBio123 Same here. Received the call yesterday, still no email. The person who called me clearly said though that the follow up email would be in a "few days"

@Earl Still doesn't mean that they won't send you an invite in the next wave! Or did they explicitly state that you weren't selected for fall 2016?
