TOPIC: "Educational institutions have a responsibility to dissuade students from pursuing fields of study in which they are unlikely to succeed" Education-the most important part of an individual's life. Education shapes an individual during his formative years and helps in bringing the best out of a person. Educational institutes play a major role in providing education to the pupils. They are the ones who guide the students to make good decisions and judgements in their lives to ameliorate their future. Though they are guide to students, the issue that they have the responsibility to dissuade students from pursuing fields of study in which they are unlikely to succeed could not be completely agreed to. I would partially agree to this issue. Educational institutes can guide students pertaining to the field of study they would like to opt for but they cannot dissuade students from opting fields which they might think are unlikely to succeed. A student shall be demotivated if the guides at educational institutions dissuade them from pursuing the field they like. Many students get demotivated easily. It may have a negative impact on student. Selecting a field is one of the most crucial part of a student's life as it is a path towards building a good career. If a student likes a particualar field and is willing to pursue that field, the probability of succeeding in that field is increased. And if he could not pursue with his field of interest because of the dissuasive advice from the educational institutions, it might obscure his talent. History has been a evidence that a student is more likely to succeed in a field when the field is of his interest. If the educational institutions had dissuaded great singers to pursuade a degree in music, we might not have had the opportunity to enjoy their melodies. Similarly, if the current well known fashion designers had been dissuaded from pursuing a degree in fashion designing, people could not have enjoyed the existence of the inexplicable fashions which are in trend today. Students are at their formative years when they have to chose a field of study for themselves. Though some students are able to make good decisions and chose an appropriate field for themselves, some may not be able to do so with the equal ease. Students can be confound at this point of time. Some students chose a field in accord with their interest while some others come under the influence of others and are likely to take amiss decisions. Such students are unlikely to succeed in that field. Here comes the role of educational institutions. They should guide such kind of students and should make them to be able to make right decisions for themselves. Thus the issue that Educational institutions have a responsibility to dissuade students from pursuing fields of study in which they are unlikely to succeed is a sensitive issue as for some students dissuasive guidance can be demotivating while for some who are likely to take amiss decisions about the field of study, it might turn to be helpful.
