Both are great schools, especially in Special Education and Autism. Both have pros and cons.
UT-Austin
Pros: cheaper, shorter, ranked higher in field, Austin
Cons: no certification
Teachers College
Pros: dual degree, NYC
Cons: more expensive, longer
Money is not a deciding factor. Also, I'm pretty sure that I don't want to be a Special Education teacher but instead work with a public agency. Any suggestions??
What field are you? If it is possible to get a job (paid or volunteer, doesn't matter), work. You will learn a ton and will have a better idea of what you want to focus on in Grad school. I only reapplied to 2 of the same schools. During my year off, I realized I had different wants from programs so my list of schools changed. Whatever you do, don't give up. Try and gain all the experience you can and you will become a better applicant.
I totally feel you on this one. I applied to 10 schools last year and got rejected from 9/waitlisted at the other. It pretty much was the worst and I felt so down. However, I spent the year getting more experience in my field and reapplied this year. I've only heard back from 1 school so far but....it was an acceptance! Wahoo!
So don't get too down and reapply!
Best of luck!
