  1. They called me. McGill is probably my first choice but it's pretty close between Dal and McGill, I'd be pleased with either of them. Oh, also, a guy in my class guessed from my reaction what happened, and it turns out he got his acceptance call from McGill yesterday. So that's at least one in Ontario. I don't think it's location-based.
  2. I just got accepted to Dal! I have my choice of Audiology or SLP, will probably go with SLP, told to contact them by March 18th (that seems really early!)
  3. They posted twice? There are two acceptance results from Winnipeg. You think they're from the same person? EDIT: Woops, spent too long typing, nevermind.
  4. I was thinking the same thing, lol. (Also, welcome! Congratulations on emerging from lurkdom. The communal freaking-out is pretty cathartic, it's true.)
  5. Yeah, I hadn't factored in tuition, I was just thinking cost of living. They're probably comparable. I haven't worked out the math.
  6. Hah I feel you on this, not paying attention at all, just staring at my phone like it's going to explode at any second.
  7. I actually didn't feel like I was living in London, is the thing. That might have been part of it. But then, I was living on campus both years. All I remember is not being too keen on the transportation system (but it was the first public transportation system I'd ever used, so I was often confused and that probably biased me). Sorry, I can't really speak to what London is really like. Arguably (or... objectively, really), Vancouver is more expensive than anywhere in Ontario.
  8. Oh :\ okay. Wish they could include time stamps. The results page is very low on detail. Maybe they haven't started calling yet today? Agh, I am probably grasping at straws. How long can it really take to call ~27 people? Heh I'm posting way too much on this thread this week but it's either that or stare at my phone incessantly.
  9. There's one on the results page. Confirms that they are still making calls today.
  10. For me personally, it was a combination of previous experience and financial factors. I have already attended Western previously and loathed it (for personal reasons that I don't think carry over much to other people, so I won't get into them -- although I will say I found it to be a very elitist environment) and so that would have meant paying a $300 application fee for one school, which I didn't think it was worth it.
  11. Hey, that's encouraging! Thanks for letting us know.
  12. Didn't get a call. The results page for McGill SLP '15 shows acceptances from the 11-13th. Do we think it's possible that they've spread out the acceptances (first round, I mean) over several days? I wonder if they do them alphabetically. tillersaurus, where-ish does your surname sit in the alphabet? (Might be nonsense but I'll take anything that would abate my anxiety for the moment.)
  13. Oh my god, I'm kicking myself, the one time I don't bring my phone to class. I'm going out of my mind over here. Something's being said about ASDs in this lecture but I'm not digesting it at all.
  14. Ha, even better -- Alberta is my last-ranked choice. Of the schools I applied to, at least. I'd rather go to Alberta than Western, for eg. If money were no object (ha), I wouldn't be so bothered about the idea of having a significant amount of review in the first year. It might be nice to ease into it, review older concepts, collaborate with out-of-majors. Money is very much an object, though, of course. Am I the only one annoyed that Ontario is starting up a new tuition program just in time for me to leave the province? Not gonna lie, it's a bit of a sore spot. Terrible timing, Ontario.
  15. I definitely relate to the weird alternation between confidence and doubt. It's bizarre. And there's this kind of confidence-based doubt where I get really nervous about the fact that I'm confident because I know it will be all the more crushing if the news is bad. Dal started sending out applications on March 13th last year. This year that falls on a Sunday, and I'm not sure whether that would delay, move up, or not affect when they would start this year. McGill is apparently known for their March 12th start date, which again, falls on a Saturday, so I'm not sure whether that will change. Whoa, is that really how Dal plots it? Man, that would suck. I've been putting off doing an in-depth review of the course content of the schools I applied to because I don't want to get really excited about one particular school and then be too crushed if I don't get in. I like the idea of going to Dalhousie particularly for the location (I love the east coast) but the extra year is daunting, if only in terms of finances. Oh, and yes, I will definitely come straight here when I hear anything. The results page too, but this thread will be my first stop.
  16. http://thegradcafe.com/survey/ You search for the university (or the major) you want to see results for, et voila.
  17. Last year McGill results started showing up March 12th.
  18. Sort of. Just applied to Dal Aud. Given the choice, I would probably opt for SLP anyway, but that wasn't the case a couple of months ago. I would have applied to more Aud programs but I don't like Western (attended there before... not good times) and I'm too poor to live in Vancouver, lol.
  19. Whoa, that is crazy early! Ha, Dal only got my transcripts (for Aud, not SLP) a week earlier than that. I don't know whether to be impressed at Dal's processing time or concerned that they're not giving the process as much attention as it's due. Maybe they're a high-profile legacy or something. I could not tell you. I wish they'd come over to the thread. They've got some pretty decent GRE scores. 6.0 AW, nice.
  20. I can see it being an unofficial factor, manifesting because the schools might try to keep in mind a given student's likelihood of accepting an offer of admission. I don't think it looks good for a school if their stats for accepted students turning down offers are too poor. Strategic, kinda thing. I wouldn't know for certain, though.
  21. Ooh, I dunno when this happened, but my McGill application status changed to "In Review"! It's just a tiny thing but I am excited.
  22. Oh, OK, you just meant for U of A. Well that's fine, at least for me personally. For your sake, though, I'll cross my fingers that they get it all done quickly.
  23. I didn't realize the application deadline was delayed this year. I hope that doesn't mean the acceptance rounds are too much later. I want to have a fair amount of time to arrange housing. When were the deadlines last year?
  24. Before this round of admissions I used to creep around past years' gradcafe threads. I remember people as late as Feb 9th still waiting to hear from Dal -- all down to Dal being backed up, nothing wrong with their applications. You'll definitely hear from them, like I said, I got a message saying there were items missing, so even if there was something wrong, they'd get in touch. According to previous years' threads, Dal starts the first round of acceptance around March 13th. Likewise, McGill notifies people starting on March 12th (and they call you -- I've made a personal note to NOT set my phone on silent that day). U of Alberta started sending out acceptances on March 3rd last year. Those are the only ones I know because those are the ones I applied to. So yeah, significantly earlier than April or May, at least if you get accepted in the first round.
