  1. I took the subject test in April and the scores were online exactly a month after I took it. I guess it could take up to six weeks, though.
  2. Thanks for the tips, Vince. : )
  3. Hi everyone. I have a quick question about the Reading Comprehension in the Big Book. I've spent the summer bolstering my vocabulary, so I've been doing well on the sentence equivalence and text completion in my practice tests. Most of the mistakes that I make have been in Verbal are with the reading comprehension, so I'm trying to work on that. I've been using the ETS official guide and their book with Verbal practice problems, and Manhattan (7, 8 + 5lb book). I'm going to finish all of the questions in the ETS books, but I've heard some mixed comments about the quality of the Manhattan verbal questions. My question is: has anyone used the reading comprehension from the old Big Book from ETS to prep for the revised exam? Are the reading comprehension questions a similar level of difficulty to the current revised GRE? Thanks in advance.
  4. Thanks everyone, I'm looking into PhD programs, but I'll apply to a handful of MA programs as well. I have been looking into English departments and hadn't considered the Ethnic Studies route. Would I be correct in assuming that most English departments would allow me to do some of my coursework in Ethnic Studies? I was under the impression that interdisciplinary work is generally encouraged.
  5. Hi, all. For my first post I just thought I'd bump this one up. I'm looking at American Lit programs with an emphasis in ethnic and immigrant literature, particularly latino/a literature, I've checked out the following: UCLA, UT Austin, NYU, UCSD, WashU. There doesn't seem to be much information about his in the forums. Does anyone have any other suggestions of places where I might want to apply? Thanks in advance!
