  1. Seriously confused here. I have very competitive funding at MSU and Peabody. MSU coursework isn't best suited for me - it is quite quant and econ heavy - but my advisor is amazing and really well known in the field and in my home country. Community Research and Action coursework is AMAZING and very much in line with my interests and faculty interests align but I wouldn't have as much support to research in home country. HELP?

Cambridge and UCL - no funding yet, but thinking about waiting it out.

    Thoughts? :D

I am quoting Colette from Gates who just replied to my email:

"Thank you for your email. Successful candidates will hear back by end of this week, early next week."

So, we still have to wait

AHHHH THE WAIT IS TOO MUCH

Thank you!! I'm over the moon. Have you received news from any of the programs you applied to?

Congratulations!! Do you think you'll attend, or are you still waiting to hear back from other programs?

I'm waiting to hear back from other programs - I have an offer at MSU in Education Policy and at UMN in Comparative Education. I'm really lucky to have this dilemma, but it is quite hard to decide!

I emailed admissions after seeing all of the results postings about POME offers already having been extended  Their response: "the review process is currently underway and decisions have not been sent out to HDE applicants. We're fortunate to have so many qualified applications so we appreciate your patience at this time. Decisions are expected between March and April. "

That's exactly what they said to me. I wished they'd just tell me ALREADY

  6. School: Georgetown, Michigan SOE, Minnesota CEHD

Area: Human Development and Policy (Georgetown), Child Development (Minnesota), Education and Psych (Mich SOE)

Rationalization: Generic email about careful reviews and too many applicants.

Comment: As an international student, I'm not sure how much of a shot I have. I have a relatively high GRE score and a really strong academic record. Honestly not sure what they are looking for. Pretty upset about Minnesota since I had a super interested POI who had asked to review her paper and what not. Georgetown was a really strong research fit. Not very surprised about Michigan.

Coping tactics: Focusing on my new job which involves talking to lots of tiny humans, fighting with my SO, making travel plans, and generally trying to look for other opportunities I might be interested in. Plus, waiting patiently for more rejections to come my way.

Thinking the same thing (I haven't even gotten the 'fill out the financial aid' form e-mail). No idea how to phrase my letter though. Tell me if you come up with smth.

What is this financial aid form everyone is talking about? Is it different from the supplemental data thing? In which case, I am screwed huehue?

I have no investment in this topic, but did you guys notice on the results page:

The University Of Michigan - Ann Arbor Combined Program In Education And Psychology, PhD (F16) Accepted via Phone on 20 Jan 2016   20 Jan 2016
    • POI left a voicemail telling me I've been accepted into the program. Email with the funding offer and visitation day information to come.

Dunno if this is relevant to y'all.

    Well that is absolutely terrifying.

Thanks sarkat! I was surprised to hear so soon from UGA. I didn't expect to hear anything from anywhere until mid-late January at the earliest. Where else did you apply (if you don't mind me asking)?

I've applied to HGSE, Stanford GSE (DAPS), Michigan SOE (CPEP), Minnesota Child Psych, Northwestern SESP, and Berkeley GSE.

I have a BA in Psych from a really good university in India, and a Master's from a top school in the UK.

    GRE V/Q/A: 164/162/5.0 ; got TOEFL exemptions.

One conference presentation, one publication. A lot of work and research experience in education and psych.

Hoping I have a decent shot!

    What about you?
