Survived MIT's rejection wave. Now what?

exactly. Any current first years who applied this year can still apply in their second year. For those entering grad school next year, you'll need to be strategic about if you pick your first or second year. Graduate division at my school is already trying to determine how to advise on this situation.
I would only think in very extreme circumstances when there was clearly something wrong with a reviewers judgement on an applicant. Very rare to happen though. There really are no waitlists, just honorable mentions. However, if an awardee completely turns down their offer (also very rare), an honorable mention will receive it.
Sorry, I meant waitlists from universities.

Is it true that GRFP can overturn rejections and waitlists?

I've heard that getting GRFP can overturn rejections/waitlists. How true is this?

I got an email from Rice saying I got accepted two days ago. I was so excited about it! It's my top choice!
Congrats!

Sharkyomar, if you don't mind me asking, why did you apply ME for UW?

Yeah, got official acceptance email from department (with TA assistantship), and from graduate school via email on February 8.
Just received funding information today, but thanks!

Still waiting for UC Berkeley, MIT, Caltech and Stanford
All schools sent already acceptance letters
I didn't get anything. I am waiting now for rejection.
UCBerkeley (interview 1/22) -?
MIT -?
Caltech -?
Stanford -?
You interviewed at Berkeley?
There might still be hope for some of those schools! Good luck man.

Has anyone received funding information from UCSD?
-
Has anyone heard anything from Berkeley?
-
Idk. MIT had a wave of acceptances a few week ago.
-
Is Harvard done sending out acceptances?
-
Will there be other waves of admits? From the results it seems like a lot of people got in early March last year.

They really do take a while longer than most other engineering disciplines. Aerospace is on the same footing in terms of time. I've only heard from maybe half. MIT doesn't get back to people until the last week of February...pretty late in the game
If you don't mind me asking, what schools have you heard from?

Long time lurker!!!How long did it take for you to hear back from Georgia Tech? Thanks
I actually heard back the day after they said my application had been processed (mid-January). When results get released may vary given that Georgia Tech's Bioengineering program requires you apply through different departments. I applied through the Mechanical Engineering department. Hope that helps!

I suspect it's because we applied for external fellowships and they want to see if we can fund ourselves?
