  1. Umich, UW Seattle, Fordham, Wisconsin Madison, Wustle, Boston college and Hunter College. Concentrate on children. focus more on policies or administration
  2. hmmm. can't I edit my post? I meant to say University of Wisconsin - Madison, not Wisconsin State
  3. Sorry guys I typed it on my phone and did copy&paste. The format is not very comfortable
  4. Hi I'm a Chinese student currently studying in China. I want to apply for master of social work in the U.S.. Schools in my lists are Umich, UW Seattle, Fordham, Wisconsin State, Wustle, Boston college and Hunter College. In terms of referers, there are five people in my mind. But as far as I know most schools only require 3 referers, so I'd like to hear some advise from you 1. An American English teacher who knows me very well. Pros: She can highlight my passion on helping people and communication skill. I've taken 3 courses of hers which are communication English, creative writing and practical English writing. Cons: She's not a professor and I'm afraid she's not very convincing to prove my academic ability. However, I've heard that foreign referers are of more reliability to people who in charge of admission process. 2. the dean of my department. I believe that his recommendation letter could strongly demonstrate my academic potential. But he couldn't provide my potential on social work field. In addition, the way Chinese express themselves isn't as strong as Americans, so does in using nice words. In other words, my American teacher could depict me as a more competent candidate than the dean could. 3. My supervisor in Unicef. I'll definitely keep her in the list. She was in charge of China child welfare project, which is also the area I involved with when I was an intern there. 4. I have two more professional options. Both of them are experts in documentary fields. One is a Canadian whose profile can be found in IMDB, he has a documentary company. The other was the vice president of content in a local PBS television. The former is more prestigious, but the latter person's title is more familiar to the recruiter I assume. Your suggestions would be very helpful to me. Thank you very much!
