  1. Still only one reply from each Brown and BC... what is happening.
  2. Hang in there, psm It ain't over til it's over... And one of your "long shot" acceptances might come in any day now.
  3. Oh no, no, they won't send anything out til mid-March. But they're pretty upfront on their website about the lack of funding options.
  4. Aw, thank you! To be honest, I'm not holding out too much hope for actually getting to go there... Even if by some miracle I get accepted, funding is just about nonexistent.
  5. Just when I thought I could stop refreshing my email every thirty seconds... AHHHHH.
  6. I'm pretty sure you just have to say his name three times in the mirror...
  7. Do we think that Monday being a holiday is going to mess things up?
  8. I like that the acceptance thread was "hot" earlier and now it's the venting thread. The shine has worn off the first two weeks and the madness has finally begun to set in.
  9. I'm with you so, so much. It's kind of the archetypal, funny thing, oh look how stressful this is, admissions season is the worst, but I mean. It's genuinely depressing. And it's hard to keep a consistent mood level when you're vacillating back and forth between brash confidence and the depths of self-loathing. I literally got sad today because I saw a little bird hopping around on the sidewalk and I thought his little feet must be cold.
  10. *unflips table* *lights up flamethrower*...
  11. WHERE IS BROWN. *flips table*
  12. Try not to lost hope, @iunoionnis - from what I'm seeing, looking back even just at the survey results for the past few years, "waves" of acceptance or waitlist aren't uncommon. Different schools have different policies, so try not to let yourself get eaten alive by the assumption that no news means bad news. It ain't over til it's over!
  13. I am out of upvotes for the day, but this is my favorite anything.
  14. Same. We're doubly rejected. I choose to believe it's because we're overqualified.
  15. Whoomp there it is. No surprise, but still.
  16. It looks like there's still only one reply from Boston College in the survery results - even given the unpredictability of snail mail, doesn't that seem odd? Wondering if anyone else has heard anything yet.
  17. Fighting the urge to show up at Brown like, HI, IT'S ME, I baked you this cake and washed your car for you, no reason, just being the upstanding, hardworking, caring student that I am...
  18. The irony of spending reputation points on this post is not lost on me.
  19. Same. Hoping for something to happen tomorrow, but who knows?
  20. Wow, it sounds like you accounted for that peiod of time with a really positive spin, actually! Given what you included about it. I would say you've done all the damage control you need to - I don't think they're going to hold it against you. That you were able to come back to your degree and succeed on a lot of different levels (raising your GPA, replacing the bad grades, etc.) speaks volumes about your capacity for hard work and determination. If I were you, I would feel confident that that rough patch (especially the way you presented it) wouldn't pull my larger application down. Try not to get too tangled up in worries about it (I know, I know, that's ridiculous advice), but remember: there's nothing you can do to change it now. It sounds like you've done a really excellent job of mending any potential damage.
  21. If you're worried about that rough semester impacting how your application is received by programs, you could always make it a point to address it briefly in your statement of purpose (it's kind of your one chance to set any records straight, clarify any confusion or inconsistencies, etc.). Since presumably you've already applied, though, I suppose that advice doesn't do much good. Did you address the semester at all in your application material? I'm thinking that if you did, and explained the situation, it might not have too severe of an impact.
