NYU and NYC/NJ area schools
madisonstarr replied to clydeyo12's topic in Speech-Language Pathology Forum
For all Montclair SLP applicants, incase you were wondering about GAship (I attended as an undergrad) 15-18 people were emailed for an interview. There are somewhere between 5-7 spots available. If you GET a GAship you'll be expected to work 20hours a week for a Comm Disorders professor and in exchange you get your first year tuition waived as well as a stipend. Also, interviews will be in MAY not june, there was a typo I believe, but email Valerie to double check. I hope that helps people in the decision making process for schools. -
Brandeis has a computational linguistics Masters degree that understands that some schools don't have the computational aspect. They'll focus on more foundational stuff at first for that in whichever area you need more coursework in. Looks pretty good but it's not my area so who knows

2013 SLP Admissions Thread!
madisonstarr replied to midnight's topic in Speech-Language Pathology Forum
To anyone freaking out that they didn't get a BU interview invite yet, I received this in my email: We are sending out interview invitations all week. We had hoped to send out emails yesterday but we’ve been delayed and are still reviewing applications -

I haven't seen anything on the result board about anyone getting an email about interviews yet. Waiting is the absolute worst thing ever :-/ -
2013 SLP Admissions Thread!

originally they were saying you'd hear today, the 11th. I assumed it'd be email based on the email response I got when I asked, but I'm not surprised it's been pushed back due to the blizzard. BU was closed on friday and many people are still have difficulty commuting into work in the Boston area today -
I'm looking to hear about POIs from the following clinical programs Northwestern UConn UPitt UWashington (though I don't think I saw anything on the message board about this one yet) any information is incredibly helpful!

I applied to emerson, mgh, BU, and northeastern for SLP. Three of which used the CSDCAS. When should I expect ot hear anything back? Any sort of time frame? How do I check on the status of the CSDCAS schools? I know it's early and most haven't even had their deadlines yet, but I'm already so anxious about it!

Hey all, I am planning on applying to graduate schools either this september or next. I am especially interested in the development (particularly language development) of kids with severe autism. Do you know of any clinical or developmental ph.d programs with this sort of focus? I know boston university as well as Uconn, but I don't know too many others and my searches bring up a lot of unnecessary information. I am not interested in school psych of ABA, really just research focus on language development in kids with severe autism. Location is not a concern to me. Any advice? Thanks

Has anyone heard from them? I've sent them two emails asking for an update on my application status and I've gotten nothing back, and the online application doesn't have any new information up either. Is it good I haven't heard? I can't imagine it being good. Is it bad I haven't heard? When should I expect to hear from them, the deadline to decide is slowly closing in and I need to know so I can make a final decision. Any advice on what I should/can do?

I received a reply saying "I have not received final decisions form the BCS area at this time. I will contact them and as for an update." I got that email a couple of days ago

I applied to the USC cog psych program and still haven't heard back. I recently sent a letter asking for an update on my status though.

Shall I call the department about my admission status?
madisonstarr replied to ted hudson's question in Questions and Answers
how did you word your email asking for a status update? Waiting is killing me, I just want to send an email already and find out. -
So I haven't heard back from 4 of the 6 schools I applied to and as march trudges on, I get a little bit more nervous. I'm ready to send an email to someone asking whereabouts they are with my applications but I have no idea who to send the email to or what to even put in the email? Any advice is greatly appreciated
-
I applied to UMass Amherst too and I haven't heard anything. I don't know about your other ones. I'm skeptical about people hearing back from UMass already because I haven't seen anything on the results forum concerning Amherst at all, nor have I heard anything from any of my friends. Maybe they did though, I have no idea

I just keep getting more and more nervous when I don't see any information about the schools that I applied to showing up on the results forum. Seriously, I see nothing about acceptances or rejections or even interviews. I don't know if I should be worried or content about that. Grad School Cafe as introduced a whole new level of neurotic into my life

Agreed 100%. I just want to know what's going on with my future. I wish they would send an email saying "Hang in there-you're still in the running" or "Sorry kid, we've moved on, maybe you should move on, too"

Is it at all common to be accepted without having an interview invite yet? Just trying to keep my hopes up, you know? Also, I applied to UMass Amherst, not Boston. Are you certain NYU invites have gone out? I haven't seen anything about that on the results page of this website. Where did you find that information? Any advice on how to find out the status of my applications without sounding like a complete pest?

Hey all, I'm eagerly awaiting hearing from anywhere. No acceptances yet, and from browsing the other topics, this isn't a good thing at this point at all. I originally thought it was still rather early, but I guess not? Here is what i've heard so far: UPenn - rejected Rutgers - interview weekend NYU - absolutely nothing WUSTL - online has no decision yet USC - online has no decision yet UMass- online has no decision yet So really, I have on interview and one rejection. Should I start panicking a little that I haven't heard from four places? Should I start contacting them or is it still rather early? Any advice is greatly appreciated. I'm definitely a worrier. Any advice on what I can do since I haven't yet? Should I contact them or is it too early to be a pest about it? Thanks in advance
