  1. I was there the same weekend as you and just got a call + email this morning!
  2. If you've already sent them a thank you before I don't think another one is really necessary. I would definitely reach out to anyone who you could see yourself rotating with whether you interviewed with them or not and ask if they're accepting students. The advice I got from grad students at all three of my interviews was to start as soon as you can in the process of trying to decide what labs to join and contact your POIs. It's a lot of work especially if you have multiple schools but you'll be so much more prepared when you start.
  3. I've been to interviews in Texas and NYC so far and I would say about 1/3 of the people showed up in suits. If you feel comfortable in it then I would for sure wear it. I seriously doubt you'll look out of place. But once you've gotten your first interviews out of the way you'll start to realize that you're stressing way more than necessary about attire haha
  4. Definitely know your research but I doubt you'll get asked many super technical details. You only have 20 minutes and I think they'd rather use that time to get to know you as a person rather than quiz you on some obscure techniques. I would read a few abstracts on the faculty you select but I think reading whole papers is a little overkill unless you are really interested and have the time. In my two interviews so far, every professor has assumed I am new to their research topic and has given me broad overviews of the topic. Unless you're researching the same or very similar things, I don't think they expect you to learn their field in the week or so you get before your interview.
  5. My two interviews had both said 2 weeks and the first one was pretty accurate. They'll tell you if you ask.
  6. Congrats! Seriously I've had like three schools now that want Jan 29th weekend and I already committed to the first school and they've already gotten my plane tickets
  7. The Biochemistry and Molecular Biology program at Johns Hopkins School of Public Health has a Jan 15th deadline I believe. Baylor College of Medicine also has a January deadline.
  8. I got a UNC invite yesterday so I think they're still sending them out. Their interview dates are Jan 21-23, Jan 28-30, Feb 4-6, Feb 11-13, Feb 18-2, and Feb 25-27 but they'll assign you one.
  9. Thanks! Immunology was my top choice! What about you?
  10. I got an invite today from Mayo. They gave me the Jan 29th interview date although I know they have a February one as well.
  11. Just a got a UNC BBSP invite so they're still sending them out! I know there was a huge wave of them a week ago.
  12. Anyone know if all UNC BBSP interviews have been sent out?
  13. Because it's still relatively early in the process I probably wouldn't bug them about it yet especially if they're on the committee since they're probably pretty busy. Although you're the best judge on your relationship with your POI so if you guys are super chummy then it might be perfectly fine to ask.
  14. I know some people already got IBIS invites but seeing as their deadline was yesterday I can't imagine they've handed them all out yet.
  15. Congrats on Yale! Wow that gives me hope that Penn isn't done sending out invites yet if you haven't gotten one. My interest area was Gene Therapy and Vaccines so hopefully that's why as well.
  16. According to their website http://www.med.upenn.edu/camb/app_info.shtml, it's Jan 15-16, Jan 29-30, and Feb 19-20.
  17. Any idea on whether or not Penn CAMB is still sending out invites? I know a few people got interview requests today. I'm dying from anticipation and can't function at work haha
  18. For my two interviews so far they required a response within the week so I didn't have much choice. I'd imagine they would want a quick response so they can give spots to other qualified applicants.
  19. Not saying it's not true but take those results with a grain of salt. There was someone on this thread earlier who knew a professor that's on an admissions committee that hadn't even met yet and someone had already reported they got an interview from that same program.
  20. I'm in the same boat as you. What area of focus did you apply to? I noticed the few notifications were for psych/neuro so hopefully they haven't gotten to the other ones. Mine were cancer bio, mol bio, and immunology.
  21. Congrats! For what program? I'll see you there maybe
  22. Congrats to your friend! Was it for IBIS? I'm pretty sure their deadline is the 15th so I guess they're doing rolling admissions?
  23. Wow congrats! Isn't their deadline the Dec 15th??? Crap I guess I should hurry and submit my app!
  24. Were you able to self report them on the app? If so I really doubt it would hinder your application from going to review but it's good to double check where they went. Penn CAMB took like five days to match mine up after submission.
