Okay, thank you for your input. Let me now make a few points, 1. First of all, "EVERYONE waitlisted has made similar posts to HJin's in various threads and the results board" is a false, overly generalized statement. Many people, myself included, patiently wait and respect others of their right to decide until the official April deadline. 2. Even if many waitlisted candidates make such posts, that does not make it right. To give an extreme example, just because there are many people cheating during an exam, it does not make cheating an appropriate action to take. Therefore, you are a presenting a weak argument. 3. By saying "There are some ppl who make decisions and never tell the other schools they aren't going so the waitlisted ppl are left in limbo", you are giving a negative connotation for people who have received multiple acceptances. Yes, some, as a courtesy, choose to withdraw from other schools after they make their decisions, but you cannot blame others who choose to do otherwise. Good night

Exactly. Harvard's initial admits were released on 2/12 so I knew I was most likely rejected. What annoys me is that they always ask you to log into the portal to check your status. Just tell me I am rejected right away. I can take it. Stop wasting my time . God

Hi, above comment was based on how Harvard released its admissions decisions in the previous years. I assumed that the selection process would be roughly the same. Also, two people (yes, small sample size) that I know were accepted last week (on the 12th to be exact) and Gradcafe results page seemed to be consistent with that. I am aware that HSPH re-branded its doctoral program (Population Health Sciences). So of course there is a chance that they now do it differently (e.g. in several waves instead of single release). I am this year's applicant as well, and did not hear from them yet. So I am assuming that I am rejected...

@Mb They sent out all initial acceptances last week. Harvard does not usually send out "official" rejections until last minute. So while there is a slight possibility that few candidates are on the wait-list, it is more likely that if someone did not hear from Harvard last week, they are rejected.

Right, mid April is like the absolute deadline for most Ph.D. programs. However, if you do not hear from them by early March, you are either on the waitlist or silently rejected.

Hi, are you an international student? If so, I recommend writing a GRE exam. Although most MPH programs in Canada do not require their applicants to have written the GRE exam, it should be beneficial for international applicants as GRE is considered as a (relatively) fair measure of one's general academic aptitude. It is difficult to estimate your chances of admission without knowing more detailed profile (example: GPA, names/impact factors of published journals, other research experiences etc.)

You should look for each school's admissions data and find out the average V and Q scores for last year's applicants. If your scores are within 2 points or so, I think you would have a fair shot. In my opinion, deferring at this point does not make sense. You really have nothing to lose by applying and everything to lose by deferring.

Hi, I finished my MPH in epidemiology last year. I will try to answer your questions below. Hope this helps! 1. Yes, just make sure to apply broadly and see what happens. 2. I think this depends on the school, but high V and Q scores on the GRE could definitely save your life if your GPA is on the low side (<3.3). I personally think any score above 75 percentile (157V/159Q) is very competitive. I am not sure how much epi programs care about the writing score. I did poorly in the writing section (4.0) and was accepted at every place I applied to. 3. Epidemiology is heavily statistics dependent. It is definitely helpful to know some statistics going into the program. However, some of my colleagues who did not have any statistics background ended up doing very well. Do not worry too much about it at this stage. 4. Is "No Pass" same as "Withdraw"? In that case, it should be okay. If it is an equivalent of "Fail", then you may want to include an explanation along with your application. 5. PM me on this issue. I do not want to name specific schools here as it could start a controversy. 6. Schools almost exclusively look at your SOPHAS GPA. Some schools look at specific GPAs (example: Science GPA)
