  1. No, it's a college in Cornell. A lot of private schools in NY have SUNY affiliations. Cornell is an ivy league, it is impressive and amazing and a really great program.
  2. Not yet! It is sort of a grab bag when they might get back to us, too...their application deadline was only Feb1. I think I saw a few admits in the middle of february from the last few years, but I would almost not expect anything until march!
  3. I have not contacted any of the schools that I haven't heard from, but I would think that a polite email to the director of graduate studies inquiring about the status of your application, or an approximate date when you might hear about your application would be appropriate! Some schools have a graduate advisor that serves as a point of contact for inquiries of that sort, so it might feel a little less daunting to reach out to them first
  4. It is good to make decisions though! It feels good to have some control in an overall situation that is very out of your control
  5. Can I ask who your advisor is? EDIT: JK I creeped on your Academia.edu account
  6. My research is "too sexy", if you will. I've had a few academics scoff at my work and tell me it has no place in the field of communication. It is all about proper fit and finding people who value what you bring to the table! I am sure this season will work out much better for you than last season (and it already has started to)!
  7. I absolutely will be! I am really excited for it YAY!!! Congrats!!!! I check my email and those portals every 30 minutes, every day, forever, for the rest of my life.
  8. Also...I am loving all of this academia.edu love that has occurred from this board. My account has swelled 3x since yesterday! We can also be linkedin friends, yay professional social media and friends!
  9. YASSSSS!!!!! Congrats! The Canary's are cool people who do some really awesome research there :). I am totally feeling you...but it is a good problem to have. I am literally so torn right now between all of my acceptances, but I know that things will be clearer after some campus visits and such!
  10. Not that I have anything on there...but yeah absolutely CLICK ME
  11. I meant troll the results page, but in all honesty, I would for love that's so raven to come back on tv....
  12. Very neat! I have a main focus of interpersonal/relational communication but also enjoy the study of health communication (or the intersection of the two). My thesis is on serial arguing, and two faculty members at OU are currently engaged in research surrounding this area, which is really cool! Good luck applying as well! I am sure we will both have a tough choice to make at the end here . I am literally not even sure how I am going to make a decision, but I am hoping that after attending welcome weekends at each school I will have a much clearer picture as to where I belong
  13. Yeah! I met with two of their faculty members and some graduate students who are doing research in an area that I really like at NCA. Their faculty/grad students were super nice and welcoming, which is great. What is your area of concentration?
  14. Funding wait lists are super frustrating. I am on a waitlist at UTA and Rutgers right now, and I just want to know where I stand. I have two funded offers on the table, which is amazing, but it would be nice to have an idea of where I stand!
  15. I am trying to have an open mind as I receive more acceptances. Getting into Penn State first kind of made everything difficult. However, at least two of the three programs I have been accepted to are flying me out to visit, so I want to give them each a fair and honest chance. I am hoping now that February is here that we will each have a clear picture of our options by the end of the month! I only have three schools left to hear from and I have a pretty good feeling about all three.
  16. It is super exciting! To be honest, I have nothing on there, I just use it to look at other people's papers
  17. Yeah, I had someone look me up from State College, PA a few days ago, and I was like...awwww they are interested in me!! It is really exciting, I must admit.
  18. Thank you to everyone for the congratulations, fingers crossed you guys get to experience the same relief within the next few weeks here! The acceptances are coming for you @Buckeye16 you are killin it, Iowa is an awesome program, too! @Satynne No news is good news for now, they didn't weed you out in the first round of rejections (like me) so it is a really good sign for you! Congrats! I just received my acceptance to the Comm Studies PhD program there this morning!
  19. @Buckeye16 Congrats on your interview though! UWM is super competitive, and it is a huge honor to even get an interview there. How do you feel it went? Did you feel like you really jived with your POI? I received my first acceptance on Monday to Penn State, with full funding! I honestly had almost been waiting for them to tell me it was a mistake for a few days now, but then I received my final admission offer in my email this morning. After my UCSB rejection last week, I was starting to look into a Plan B, and now it is nice to feel secure in knowing I will be going some where next year.
  20. I graduated in 2014, it seems like a lifetime ago at this point!
  21. HAHA this is very true. Syracuse is also becoming increasingly more dangerous. The student neighborhoods have a gang problem, you can't feel super safe at night walking home. I loved my time at school there, but holy moly, I don't know that I would ever move back there!
