I have not contacted any of the schools that I haven't heard from, but I would think that a polite email to the director of graduate studies inquiring about the status of your application, or an approximate date when you might hear about your application would be appropriate! Some schools have a graduate advisor that serves as a point of contact for inquiries of that sort, so it might feel a little less daunting to reach out to them first

My research is "too sexy", if you will. I've had a few academics scoff at my work and tell me it has no place in the field of communication. It is all about proper fit and finding people who value what you bring to the table! I am sure this season will work out much better for you than last season (and it already has started to)!

Very neat! I have a main focus of interpersonal/relational communication but also enjoy the study of health communication (or the intersection of the two). My thesis is on serial arguing, and two faculty members at OU are currently engaged in research surrounding this area, which is really cool! Good luck applying as well! I am sure we will both have a tough choice to make at the end here . I am literally not even sure how I am going to make a decision, but I am hoping that after attending welcome weekends at each school I will have a much clearer picture as to where I belong

I am trying to have an open mind as I receive more acceptances. Getting into Penn State first kind of made everything difficult. However, at least two of the three programs I have been accepted to are flying me out to visit, so I want to give them each a fair and honest chance. I am hoping now that February is here that we will each have a clear picture of our options by the end of the month! I only have three schools left to hear from and I have a pretty good feeling about all three.

Thank you to everyone for the congratulations, fingers crossed you guys get to experience the same relief within the next few weeks here! The acceptances are coming for you @Buckeye16 you are killin it, Iowa is an awesome program, too! @Satynne No news is good news for now, they didn't weed you out in the first round of rejections (like me) so it is a really good sign for you! Congrats! I just received my acceptance to the Comm Studies PhD program there this morning!

@Buckeye16 Congrats on your interview though! UWM is super competitive, and it is a huge honor to even get an interview there. How do you feel it went? Did you feel like you really jived with your POI? I received my first acceptance on Monday to Penn State, with full funding! I honestly had almost been waiting for them to tell me it was a mistake for a few days now, but then I received my final admission offer in my email this morning. After my UCSB rejection last week, I was starting to look into a Plan B, and now it is nice to feel secure in knowing I will be going some where next year.
