  1. First of all congrats on getting accepted to your program! Best of luck as you start your graduate career! I have accepted my offer at Long Beach as debt is a huge concern for me! Happy with my decision thank you!
  2. You have captured my exact thoughts and feelings. I have accepted my offer at Long Beach. I am conifdent and happy with my decision. Thank you so much!
  3. Opinions please. Is it a significant benefit to have the Ed.S and the MA? I haven't committed yet but have basically made my decision. Pretty sure I should go to long beach state. Was even offered a 28k grant (have to do additional training) meaning my tuition will be mostly covered. The only thing that slightly bothers me is that I will only get the Ed.s and not the MA at LB. Does this really matter? LMU is a dual degree but the most funding I can get is 40% tuition of a 70k program. Even if I assume I get that much that leaves at 40k+ debt. Not sure that the debt is worth it as I feel I will fare relatively equally with a degree from either program. Basically asking if it really matters where I go?
  4. What do you mean both are third? Yeah at LMU I woud get both the MA and EdS and at Long Beach I only would have the EdS I think. I love both programs it would really come down to the financial aspect.
  5. Thank you! Yeah I def am not doing it because of any religious affiliation but I like that LMU offers the MA and Ed.S. I'm super conflicted. I just want to be in a reputable program. My professor at UCSB actually recommended LB.
  6. Hey guys, Despite doubting myself and hoping to get at least one acceptance I got accepted to all 3 programs I applied to I am in SoCal and wanted to stay local for Grad School. I applied to Loyola Marymount University, California State University Long Beach, and California State University Los Angeles. I have narrowed it down to LMU and CSULB. But I don't know where to go. LMU is closer to home but almost double the price Long Beach is about a 45 min commute but I don't know if the program ranks up with LMU, it may be better, but I don't really know. Anybody know anything about these programs? Any opinions. Any suggestions? Where can I find the rankings of these schools? I know both are regarded as good programs in SoCal. Help please April 15th is upon us.
  7. I just got done with my first interview. Does anyone have any idea how long programs usually take to notify their decisions? I have another 2 interviews. Nervous but super happy that I got 3/3 of interviews, I wasn't so sure what my chances were.
  8. Hey all, I was just wondering if anyone applied or has applied in the past to Cal State Los Angeles M.S in Counseling option in School Psych. The deadline was Jan 15th but I haven't heard anything back yet. I am getting concerned.
  9. Hey all I am applying to School Psych MA/Ed.S programs. I graduated this past June 2015 from UCSB, I have a 3.59 GPA from a Psychology and Sociology double major. I got Cum Laude for Soc. and graduated with Honors for my cumulative GPA. I did a lot of volunteering in elementary schools and after school programs throughout my 4 years in undergrad, participated in well-known School Psych professors research project, I did an internship working with kids as well. Right after grad I landed a job as a Behavioral Therapist so I currently have been working about 7 months with children with Autism and related disorders in homes and in schools. I have other non related work experience from college campus jobs, I was part of a club, have CPR and CPI certifications etc. My GRE score is not great by any means, only had time to take it once and got a combined 301 but a good writing score of 4.5 (sad I know, I should have studied more) I have the School Psych prof who I worked with writing me a letter as well as Soc professor who knows me well and in which I earned A's for both her classes. I know both of these letters are going to be good. I asked my Clinical supervisor who has her MA to write me a LOR and expected it to be great or decent at the least and she sent me her letter (I know not typical but she did it anyway) she wrote one paragraph probably less than 500 words and didn't even put her contact info. In short although what the letter says is positive it is not a strong letter by any means and looks rather unprofessional. My first app is due in two days so I am screwed for that app but I have another 3 coming up due on Feb 15, 2016. I have asked another prof to write a LOR for me but no word back yet. Am I totally screwed because of my weak GRE Scores and my weak LOR? I'm internally crying as I write.
  10. Hey guys, I am applying to CSU's for School Psych programs and they ask for Household size? I live with my parent but work and am automatically considered independent on grounds of being graduate student. Is my household size 1 or 2? I have put down 1 as I only support myself. If anything my mom supports me lol
