  1. Hi all, I just came back from a visit at one of my top choice schools. It was pretty cool and allowed me to meet up with some interesting faculty. Since I'm a prospective MS student, I fully understand that funding is not guaranteed and I'm trying really hard to get something otherwise I have to say no to grad school. Anyways I met with a few professors that I thought their research was very interesting and really matched with my interests but I'm not sure on how to proceed next. How soon do you think I should get back to them and simply email them asking them if they could have a position in their lab for me. From what everyone has been telling me, it's ok to be persistent but i don't want to hurt my chances by frustrating one of these faculties. Thanks for any advice
  2. I think those are two very reputable schools that have national recognition so I think with any of these two you wouldn't have too much trouble finding a job anywhere in the country with some effort. I know where I want to end up working and living after my degree but none of the schools in that state appealed to me but I don't doubt I will be able to find work in that state i I put in the correct effort.
  3. Hello everyone, This friday I will be attending an open-house event organized by one of the school I've been accepted into. It's one of my top choices and I've already had a phone call with a professor previously. I will have the chance to meet 1on1 with this professor who works at the research center I would like to join as well as the director of that research center. I already have a few ideas what to ask them but was wondering if anyone had some thoughts on what I should ask or discuss with them. Thanks!
  4. I'm actually home from school for the break but my roommate said I got a letter from a college in the mail today. Asked him to open it for me, I've officially been accepted in at UW Madison as a MS mechanical engineer for next fall!! Now onto waiting for their financial aid decisions, as well as other schools but this was definetly one of my top choices! Great way to end the year
