ACJS: how does meeting up after the posters on Friday night sound?
Also- I have formally turned down all other offers to other schools- I hope someone gets some funding out of that!
@GradStudent2016
Meeting up Friday after the posters sounds great!I have also formally turned down all of my other offers so best of luck with additional funding!

It HAS been quiet. I have been getting ready for ACJS and plugging away at my thesis. I also applied for housing at UCI so hopefully I get a single or a normal roommate.

OK, I guess I cannot do anything but wait anyway. I hate that feeling :S
Keep me updated! I'm pulling for you!

@judiths I have never heard of issuing refunds in the case of rejections. I'm sorry.
Rutgers unofficially said that they hoped to admit those who they interviewed. I don't know if they will pull from the wait list when rejections come through though. -
@judiths I loved Rutgers as far as the faculty and students. I will be choosing UCI however for the research interests so I will be declining their offer if one is made. If I had a more narrow focus, I would totally go to Rutgers.
@liesandfish I will be there for sure. I'll be staying with a friend Wednesday, the hotel Thursday and Friday, and then my friend again Saturday and Sunday. So let's definitely meet up and anyone else who would like! Just let me know if you have a preference on day or whatever.

Fantastic @1428 Elm St!!!!!!!

@1428 Elm St Rutgers was amazing much to my surprise. So I am currently deciding between UCI and Rutgers. Rutgers did mention that they are hoping to admit all of the students they invited out so IF I am accepted (they will be sending decisions this coming weekend) then I will have a hard choice to make.

Thank you @liesandfish and @1428 Elm St!! I will let you know how it goes!
@Cedodge @Kylie_ just an update, I was accepted into ASU with funding. They did not specify how much funding but said that I will get an offer in a five days.

@Cedodge My status still says "In Review" so I don't know what to read into that. But glad you know so that you can move on!
@liesandfish exactly! I'm really pleased with all of my offers and with the things I've heard about the ASU program, I'm not going to stress about it anymore.
-
-
@Cedodge ah, you are right! Good way to look at it.
-
It's actually grating on my nerves that I haven't heard from ASU or that anyone else has.

@liesandfish Hmmm I'm not sure. I was attracted to their focus on policy but the faculty I wanted to work with left after I submitted my application.
@CrimTheory I totally understand that! The process can be annoying.
-
@CrimTheory I'm thinking the same thing actually. Really weird, but good to know either way so I'm not in limbo!
I'm just waiting to hear from ASU so that I can make my decisions!

Has anyone else received an offer of admission from American University? The program is only offering $500 for both flights AND accommodation costs which is really tight if you're coming from the West Coast like myself.
No, I haven't heard from them so that must be a no for me too. Which if I'm being honest doesn't matter that much as I planned to reject them if they made an offer.

Hey all! Sorry to crash the thread, but I was wondering: Those of you going to the Delaware trip on Feb 22-23, I wonder, since Soc and Crim are one department at Delaware, if we'll have the same itinerary, etc.
If so ... I'll see you guys there! I'm very excited! looking forward to meeting those of you who will be there!
I'll be there, feel free to PM regarding the itinerary!

@liesandfish SO jealous!!! I totally wish I was in your position!! Very, very happy for you.
Just like @ThesisTerror724... I have to make it through the in-person interview. Although, I think at Rutgers you are pretty much in. Can I ask... if it is too personal I understand (and I am not trying to overstep)... Did you have a faculty recommendation from Rutgers?
I'm still at the super nervous stage of waiting it out for the in-person interview and praying that it all goes well.
FINGERS CROSSED!!!!
Not too personal and no I did not, a faculty member in my department told me about the program but he did not write a recommendation for me.
-
@KnowVac I'm waiting to hear back from American as well (and ASU). Good luck!
@liesandfish I'm jealous! I need to get through these visits. I think that if I haven't heard from American and ASU by the time I visit Rutgers (March 4th) then I will make my decision based on the three schools I know about. The limbo is stressful when you consider the fact that you need to start planning things like moving, etc.
-
Two faculty members from Rutgers reached out to me as well as a current graduate student. I also find myself trying to convey some excitement but not too much as I'm still weighing my options and heavily leaning towards Irvine.

@ThesisTerror724 I will likely be joining you at Irvine. When did you receive funding info, if you don't mind me asking?
Awesome! I received the official funding information yesterday via email. I assume you were at the visit?
-
I'll be at ASC this year and actually staying an extra few days to enjoy the city. Would love to officially meet you all. Even if we are all going to different schools, we'd likely see each other at the annual conferences.

@KnowVac and @Kylie_ I agree with @phdincrim2016: You are probably going to be informally waitlisted and they will pull from that pool of people based on who rejects their offers. Which I wouldn't take offense to at all but I totally understand wanting to know one way or the other.
