hey everyone, It's been a rough 4-5 months with the grad school admissions and I am honestly extremely glad it is all over. How is everyone doing, and where will all of you be attending? I thought it would be cool to share some thoughts about it all for the next group of applicants for the next year since I had received so much help from the past years thread. For me, it was extremely chaotic turning in my applications and meeting deadlines but for me, the hardest part was waiting to hear back from the schools. My suggestion is for the next group is to focus on the application early, do the best you can, so that when you are waiting couple of weeks for answers, you wouldn't regret on spending more time on the application like I did. I will be moving soon and am really excited.

Hey everyone, I am having the hardest time deciding where to send my deposit. I am deciding between temple, william and mary, and umass boston. My biggest factors are program reputation, safety (city), and location of the state and its salary after licensure. Since I will be getting a license at the state I will be attending the program at. Thanks so much.

what is everyones plan if rejected to the schools you applied to? not trying to be extremely pessimistic here but trying to plan for the future if it does happen for me

you never know, you still have a chance to get accepted so stay positive! I still havent heard back from three schools and Im starting to get a bad feeling

Has anyone heard from Umass boston for masters/specialist program?

I applied to William & Mary masters program as well. I havent heard anything back from them yet and I saw today on their events page that interviews are set to happen 29th of Feb for school psychology applicants.. So I'm getting nervous worried I didn't get accepted... let me know if you hear back from them anytime soon!

Anyone know information about William James College or aka Massachusetts school of professional psychology? The school is apa and nasp accredited and has around 600 students total. Any info about the school and its reputation will be great thank you

Thanks westy3789, your reply really helped me and guided me to the right direction. Do you think the case would be the same for someone who'd like to go into a phD program a couple years after working in the school system or even directly after graduate studies?

Also, Does anyone know where I could go to find more information about the programs themselves besides the school page? I feel like If i were to be accepted somewhere, I'd have a hard time comparing and contrasting the two+ locations for decision to attend. I know that locations and proximity to home will be a huge factor for me but I would rather go to a school with a great program and pay more than go to a mediocre program and pay somewhat less. I have applied to temple, northeastern, umass boston, william james (MSPP), william and mary, and jmu. I know most of the schools have a ranking on the usnews psychology website but how much does ranking tell you about the program?

glad you were accepted atleast to the one school, better than nothing! and I hope the best for you for the other schools as well. I am not a psych major and know that me being accepted will be an extreme challenge, and I honestly will be VERY happy with an interview. Everyone else let us know if you hear back from any universities regarding interviews/acceptances for the specialist degree! I will post here as soon as I hear anything from the six schools I applied to.

What do you guys think about open houses? Do you think they are beneficial? I just received an email that allows you to listen into a school psychology program course, have lunch with faculty, and talk to current program graduate students. There are no interviews involved and aren't mandatory. Have you visited an open house to any of the schools you all applied to?

i am dying waiting around for some sort of reply from the schools I applied to. I was not a psychology major for undergrad so I know my chances are pretty slim but still I am so anxious! How many schools did everyone apply to? phD or masters?

William James college (MSPP) William and Mary Northeastern Umass boston East Carolina haven't heard back from any of them yet, but the deadline for most was on Jan 15.
