  1. Hey, first of all, good luck! I hope you get into a program you like! I have a BA in Political Science and I am going into an MFA in Photography. Granted I have a lot of field experience (I took about three years off between the end of undergrad and my applications) and a few group shows, but I felt the disadvantage of being from another field in last year's cycle. I only applied to two schools, Yale and SAIC, and got into SAIC with some funding (grant aid). I chose to defer a year and reapply. If there is a series of paintings you are working on right now, I would recommend getting in an affordable residency that is not too selective between now and when you will apply. This will help you generate some work and make connections with people who might even be able to write letters for you. Some schools explicitly require recommendations from people actively working in the field, so your current professors may not be able to write for you. Otherwise, if you work hard, commit yourself in this direction and make good work, there is no reason you should not be accepted into a program.
  2. Hi @stitcher - I would contact them about it. When I wrote them I found out that my FAFSA had been selected for review and that they would need additional documentation before they would send me my package. If I had not written it would take them another week to let me know and I would definitely miss the April 1st deadline to reply to my offer of admission. @Relm and @nogo thanks for letting me know! I probably will be receiving the same package. Really undecided about taking out loans or waiting and applying another year. Only applied to two schools this year and got into SAIC... I have a family so I feel a bit undecided about the loans! I agree that sometimes it is a good call to do it anyway. Wish you the best of luck!
  3. Hi everyone! Has everyone admitted to SAIC already received their financial aid decisions? I am still waiting on mine and they said it would take 4-5 days for an estimate (very close to the April 1 deadline to reply), and I was wondering if anyone with an expected contribution of 0 who has already received their financial aid decision could be so kind to pm me (or post) their package so I can get an idea of how many tens of thousands of dollars I may be looking at in loans Congrats to everyone who got in! Basically looking to find out the grant to loan ratio... Thanks!!
  4. Congrats and best of luck on interviews! I am interviewing at SAIC at the end of the month, got rejected by Yale and Northwestern. I am a bit worried now Well, there is always next year!
