  1. Hey @Lolothefirecat. As for the MIA Programme, the current class representative showed up on our Facebook subgroup to answer our questions. I would suggest to reach out to the IR/PS current class representative, ours seems very resourceful!
  2. Hey @ilmk92, congrats on your admission! It is totally normal. The status of your application will change from Admitted to Confirmed once IHEID receives your pre-application fee of CHF 1000.
  3. Guys, did any of you take part in the webinar yesterday, and feel like sharing with those who couldn't join the chat?
  4. I was planning to, but I just found out that my brother is gonna graduate on April 5th and he naturally has priority over the Admitted Student Day. What about you guys?
  5. I haven't applied yet actually, but I plan on doing it next week!
  6. Thank you, @RoyaleGVA. Did you get any feedback?
  7. Promise kept. They updated the website, here is the link: http://mygisa.ch. Plus, they created the IHEID 2016 Facebook Group, which you can join here.
  8. Heads-up for you all guys: just noticed that GISA's website is currently under construction, and they might come up with a brand new site in a couple of days!
  9. Sure thing, @taeyeon and @ARadiata. I'll be your eyes and ears in Geneva Quick question for those of you who have already applied to other residencies: how does the selection process properly work? Specifically, imagine that I apply today, and get a positive response in a month or something, do I have any deadline to confirm the room I've been assigned to?
  10. Hey guys! Haven't checked the forum for a while, but here I am. First off, congrats to @Kate_rina, @ARadiata and @RoyaleGVa on your admissions! It'll be my pleasure to meet you all in Geneva in a few months! As far as the Student House application goes, as most of you, I did not get any room (plus, I haven't gotten any scholarship either, so their selection process makes even less sense now). I was waiting to get their answer before starting to look for and apply to other housing solutions, but apparently you are all way ahead of me and I have to catch you up! Which accommodations have you guys applied to so far? And @taeyeon, yes, I believe that sharing a flat would be a pretty smart move of us, but I am afraid you should be on site to do so, as many landlords want to meet you in person before agreeing on renting you their place! As I told you a couple of weeks ago, I'll be probably going to the Admitted Students Day on April 5th, have a look around and let you guys know.
  11. My pleasure, @kotsa. You shouldn't worry at all. I mean, it's not in their interest to cut you out for such bureaucracy-related reasons. They admitted you 'cause they want you. Be positive, I'm sure they will be very cooperative tomorrow! Keep us in the loop. Good night!
  12. I paid by credit card and yes, I'm pretty sure the bank transfer takes longer to be processed. However, I believe that paying the fee before the deadline is what really matters, and that's what you did. Why don't you give a call to IHEID tomorrow? If you get some credit on your Skype account, international calls are way cheaper!
  13. I paid the fee on Friday and had my status changed on Monday. As long as the status of your invoice is paid (and no longer issued), I guess you're fine though. Plus, I'm sure the Institute will get back to you before the weekend aka by tomorrow afternoon!
  14. Ahah, yes! I can't believe it. PM me some names, I'm super curious!
  15. Hey @kotsa. I paid the pre-registration fee last Friday, and my status changed from Admitted to Confirmed this morning.
  16. Are you kidding?! I'm from Verona, but did my BA in a town that is twenty minutes away from Udine by train. What a small world!
  17. I have been admitted to the MIA Programme without scholarship (damn it!). Here is my story in a nutshell. After high school, I took a gap year, which I spent between the UK and France to improve my English proficiency and learn French from scratch. Got a BA in International Relations and Diplomacy in Italy, did an exchange semester in the US, graduated Summa Cum Laude. Undertook a couple of summer voluntary placements abroad (mainly NGOs and charitable organizations) and took part in a MUN in Belgrade, Serbia during my undergrad. I decided to invest the year between my BA and MA in two internships: the current one with a media platform in Brussels, Belgium, the second one at the Embassy of France in Rome, Italy, starting next April. Plus, I uploaded a HORRIBLE portrait picture onto my application, so you all can make it!
  18. Hi @Fedora, and congrats again on your admission to the MIA Programme - I don't know about you guys, but I haven't fully realized it yet! According to IHEID Website, the main criteria used to decide who will get a room in the Student House are: 1. Geographical distance of the student's residence at the time of admission 2. Academic results 3. Scholarship application Now, as I said before, I live pretty close to Geneva, at least compared to people coming from the United States or Asia, so I am pretty sure I'm not in a favorable position in this sense. However, I don't know if by scholarship application they mean that they tend to give priority to those who got the scholarship or to admits who didn't. I, personally, didn't. P.S. I read you spent quite some time in Italy and I bet you perfectly speak Italian, don't you? It'll be fun!
  19. I guess it's related to the floor you want your room on. Indeed, it is low, medium, high. But maybe I got it wrong. Let's wait for @taeyeon's answer!
  20. Got the e-mail and already applied (just out of curiosity, because, again, I am pretty sure I won't get any accommodation due to geographical vicinity; plus, I don't believe it is the cheapest solution anyway). The application is REALLY quick. You just have to fill in a form with your three preferences, save them, and you're done. They said notifications will be released by February 15th.
  21. The idea of finding a place in the closest French city is not as bad as it might sound, and it's actually pretty popular among those who work/study in Geneva. I don't have any precise info about it as of now, but it's something I was planning to look into in the next couple of days. Let's keep each other in the loop! I feel like the GISA Student Guide is pretty useful but non that updated - as the rest of their website actually. As @LuciaPantigoso95, the accommodation is a big concern for me, too, though I guess we can find something cheaper than CHF 650/month for the shared apartment w/ shared bathroom in IHEID Student House, can't we? I was thinking of heading to Geneva for the Admitted Student Day on April 5th actually. So yes, it'll be my pleasure to be your undercover agent for a couple of days! P.S. Did you guys get any e-mail from IHEID today about your Financial Aid Application? I got one saying that their decision was available on my follow-up module, but anything has really chanced to be honest. My request was refused on Friday, and it's still refused today. Damn it!
  22. I am actually fine with that. I mean, I wouldn't mind an extension (until April 15th maybe), but I was psychologically ready for the January 30th deadline in the fortunate case of successful admission. My biggest concern is now finding new funding sources/scholarship opportunities, and I'll e-mail IHEID to get ANY advice they might have in store for me. The bright side is having eight months of something to get everything ready. As far as housing goes, I haven't started the application for accommodation, but I am pretty sure I am out of the game, as I live 500km away from Geneva (and one of the three criteria to determine who will receive a room in the Student House is the geographical distance of a student's residence at the time of admission.)
  23. Hello everyone, and congratulations on your admission to the Graduate Institute Geneva. This thread aims to become a space for the incoming MA candidates at IHEID to talk about all the stuff we have to go through before getting to Geneva and finally meet up next September. Let the dance begin!
  24. I will definitely accept the offer, IHEID has always been my top choice by far. And yes, the separate thread for the admits is a great idea. I'll do that in a minute! EDIT: Here is the link:
