  1. Yeah, my guess is troll as well.
  2. Yeah, can some claim the Berkeley acceptance for legitimacy? Don't play with my emotions like this.
  3. Did anybody else apply under the American Politics subfield for Berkeley/Duke/Vanderbilt/Stanford?
  4. You are correct. I was mistaken.
  5. I've noticed that in the past admissions cycles that these forums are much lengthier and filled with more people. I wonder if that is a sign of GradCafe losing popularity, more lurkers, or *crosses fingers* less applicants! Oh my sanity has gone!
  6. Dear Vanderbilt, Please request interviews tomorrow so that I can know where I stand for at least one of the schools I have applied to. Yours truly, Desperation
  7. Congrats!! Can never be sure how legitimate the results board is, but congratulations! You get funding information?
  8. Looks like UW-Madison is releasing decisions today. Someone posted on the results board, but it may be a troll. Yet another school I did not apply to.
  9. Yeah, I think Stanford releasing this time last year was a bit of a shock. They have released around mid-February in most of the years prior, and given the message above, I'd say it would be a surprise to hear from Stanford. I think Vanderbilt has consistently sent out interview requests this week (usually on Tuesday). I also believe Duke is generally this week, but they may wait until the 1st. Berkeley might be a possibility, but again it isn't that likely.
  10. My nerves are definitely getting the best of me. I was speaking to a someone who happens to be on the adcomm for his/her department (non-poli sci), and they mentioned how they rank everyone to GRE and drop the bottom x%. That scares the crap out of me. Now I am just in doom and gloom mode, and in need of a place to vent. I have heard that the practice is common, but it's just one thing to hear it so nonchalantly. I can't wait to at least hear something back from somewhere. The silence is the worst part I guess.
  11. Is it frowned upon to call and check how decisions around coming along? lol. I'm getting anxious waiting for my decisions after seeing all these other schools release their decisions.
  12. I'd like to get your opinion on the low GRE thing a bit more. I will be up front, my GRE score was 40th percentile in quant and 90% in verbal. I am a graduating senior at one of the top five universities in the U.S., and my GPA is around 3.6-3.7 (depending on how one factors in the few graduate courses I took). I have been involved in a research apprenticeship with a pretty well known professor (LOR writer), and also did a research fellowship. I've also got a bit of recognition from APSA (invited to present research). I've got three VERY VERY solid letters of recommendations from really great professors. I'm also receiving some outside funding (not much), and will have a letter of support sent from a fellowship to the graduate programs I've applied to. I've also been told by some faculty at the schools I've applied that I am a good fit, and have a very strong writing sample with evidence of some experience with R. I'm wondering (perhaps you have answered this in the past) how much GRE scores as low as mine in quant can weigh an application down in American politics. Will my GRE be my downfall?
  13. So are we expecting Duke and Berkeley decisions to be out next week? Possibly some calls for interviews from Vanderbilt?
