  1. Yeah, I applied too high up in the rankings methinks. I really thought I had a reasonably competitive application but I suppose not. I'm worried that my letter of recommendation writers didn't say the right things... I've been out of school for two years and had to go back and ask those professors. They were enthusiastic and I was pretty memorable but you just never know... @gingin6789 Thanks for the support. There will be consolation cupcakes this evening.
  2. Rejected from UT Austin via website just now. It's definitely not looking good for me...
  3. It seems like today might be a likely day for some movement from Berkeley. The last three years they notified their first acceptances on Jan-28, Jan-31, and Jan-30. LMAO, AMEN! I feel the same way about Berkeley... and pretty much everywhere else I applied.
  4. Congratulations to all the acceptances today! I cannot imagine what that must feel like. I just got the rejection email from Stanford.
  5. @spicytunarollThis is the website I've used to check my status at UCLA: https://appstatus.grad.ucla.edu/account/login.aspx
  6. Who else is waiting on UCLA? I noticed one rejection on the board this morning, but my app status for UCLA still says, "no decision made at this time..." I wonder what their timeline looks like for notifications. Seems like they spread it out over the last few years, but didn't really accept anyone after the 30th. Perhaps more rejections are forthcoming? Hm...
  7. The website does state that it is refreshed at 7AM, which is why I checked mine at around 7:30AM when I got up. I wouldn't worry too much about refreshing during the day, as it is unlikely.
  8. I am at work now (teaching), with a lot of things I should be doing, but I can't stop my body from mildly shaking... as if I haven't really let myself feel all those feelings. But no matter what happens with the rest of our applications, the dream is not gone forever. You and I both have more schools to hear from and all hope is not lost. I'm preparing myself for the possibility of getting rejected from everywhere and having to try again next year, but I am still hoping that someone on some admissions committee will see something promising in my file. You just never know. *hugs*
  9. Eeek!! Thanks Gingin. I'm probably going to dive into some brownies after work. Comfort food ftw!
  10. I'm right there with you @redhillgirl. On the other hand, this way (not knowing anything about any decisions from anyone) gives me more time to live in the delusional fantasy world that I'm going to get into the best school ever and it's going to be super awesome and then I'll go buy a lottery ticket and win and then I'll get elected President and win America's next top model all in the same day. See, maybe schools do this to some of us to entice us to permanently move to fantasyland. It is fun here. And the colors... Just, I mean, wow.
  11. Someone just posted on the results board that their status for UT Austin still said "in review." Mine also still says this. I looked back at last years Accept/Reject thread and it looked like the website status for some people didn't get updated for quite a while. I emailed the grad coordinator earlier this week to check and haven't heard anything back; just no response at all. I would guess that those who were not notified from UT are probably rejected (myself included) and that the program forwarded files to the grad school to make the official rejections happen, including changing the status on the website. Obviously, this is just a guess, but I imagine there are quite a few of us who have not heard anything from UT yet. Official rejections from UT Austin didn't happen until Feb. 4th last year.
  12. We're also coming up on the realm of possibility for: UW Madison Feb 2, Jan 28, Feb 7 Stanford Feb 2, Jan 28, Feb 1
  13. I understand. I'm a high school teacher at the moment, and I often do the same thing. But being Wednesday, it means only 2 more days until the weekend! And, hopefully we'll get some grand acceptances by Saturday too. Something to really look forward to!
  14. Did I just hallucinate a whole day or is it actually Wednesday? I predict several rejections and a handful of acceptances... from some graduate programs... in sociology. (I'm going with the prediction strategy of being intentionally vague so that I'll be right no matter what.)
  15. I applied to Berkeley. Given the acceptance dates from the past three years on the results board, I wasn't expecting to see any movement until the 28th or after.
  16. Austin is a pretty cool city, in general, however the traffic is absolutely terrible. If you move here, get a place close to campus and ride a bike or walk. Otherwise, rents are more affordable here than a lot of places, but near campus isn't exactly cheap. The food here is really great! The weather is mild, although hot hot hot (100+) in the summer with humidity. There are music festivals and live music everywhere so that's pretty cool too... overall it's a pretty good place to be.
  17. Looks like there is a UT Austin rejection "via website" on the results board. Mine still says, "in review." Darn it, I was hoping for some closure.
  18. I already live in Austin, and I can just imagine a rejection from UT saying, "NO TACOS FOR YOU!!!" For you admits to UT Austin, make sure to get yourself some Torchy's Tacos when you come visit.
  19. I care. I empathize with your sadness and I too will soon feel the sting of rejection from UT Austin (and probably lots of other programs too... lol). One positive thing to take away from that kind of feedback is that you made it to the final cut! We can never quite tell if the admissions committee will see the "fit" in the same light that we do so I would imagine that you have a very strong application and will likely get an acceptance somewhere else. However, I realize that this doesn't totally wipe away the heartbreak of it in this moment... *hugs*
  20. To be perfectly honest, I am also bracing for rejection with an intense level of insecurity that I applied well above what I'm "qualified" for. Not to mention the horrid thought of application committees reading my packet and laughing at me for even applying... Insecurity; it's so real. I lurked all through the application process and only joined the conversation once I realized that I was going to drive myself crazy checking my email every 5 minutes. It's nice to know that I'm not the only one going through the process of waiting. I applied to Berkeley too, and based on last year's results, it looks like they could notify acceptances as early as the end of this week. I'll keep my fingers crossed for the both of us! No real advice on creating a signature except I mostly copied @gingin6789's and replaced with my own stats. The signature editing is in Account Settings, I believe.
  21. I'm not sure if there's something else I'm missing since I've never been through this application process before, but it seems as if three acceptances at this point in the game is pretty impressive! I am just hoping for one acceptance. I only need one and that's where I'm going! You must have done something(s) right Kata.
  22. My apps for Columbia, Stanford, Brown, Berkeley, and Yale all just say "submitted."
