  1. The last few years Berkeley has sent out acceptances (at least those posted on gradcafe) all within a few days and rejects anytime right afterwards to through mid February. That's historically, no knowing what they'll do this year. We're not rejected until we receive official word. I wish you the best!
  2. Thank you!! Did they give you any timeframe? I'm obsessively checking the site :/
  3. @ConsciousSteph and @mm3733, LOL!! @Katastrophe: VERY slow!! I was really hoping Berkeley would notify today I think we are all getting restless. I'm sorry you didn't get in and hope you hear some good news soon!! *hugs*
  4. As someone with a disability, I gotta say even with accomodations the test was one of the most miserably tough experiences of my life - including childbirth. As a single-mom who could not afford test prep classes or materials other than free ones, I also think background, class, and culture can impact scores too. All of that was reflected on my scores. Sooo, all that being said, I vote to agree to disagree and be happy for those who have done well. Wishing you all the best and lots of acceptances!
  5. @goofylemon and @nowayjose, it is also possible that person has a disability that impacts standardized tests but not research ability. We can't know. If we knew they didn't then I would tend to agree, but we don't.
  6. My interests are Gender and Sexuality, not criminology, but I had a similiar conundrum. Ultimately, with the input of several PhD professors, I decided to apply for Sociology not a Gender Studies PhD because it allows for a much broader range of intersecting identities and future research. However, I only gave serious consideration to schools that have a designated WGSS emphasis/certificate with kick ass women's studies programs that work closely with thier sociology counterparts. IMO, the deciding factor is how broad you want your scope to be. Race, class, crime, gender, sexuality, and ability are so intertwined for me, I just don't think I can stick to one for my whole career.
  7. My GRE scores are low too and I have a non-profit background as well. *crossing fingers for us both* I too would love you to look over my app!! So happy for you! *high five*
  8. Berkeley notified on this date last year. *fingers crossed*
  9. So far, nothing from UCB. Based on previous years we could hear back as early as the end of this week and as late as mid-February.
  10. Thank you! Thank you! Thanks everyone for the well wishes and help! I'm glad there's a great group to be anxious with me!
