  1. @GeoInsane @zerozircon I also have that UT message, but I've had it since the first week of January. Maybe it means the application has been reviewed by the committee? My POI asked me to email him after I submitted my application, and the message timeline matches him getting back after winter break. Radio silence over here, since someone posted on the admissions board that they're visiting in early Feb, I'm assuming my POI decided to pass on me.
  2. @GeoDUDE! *Fingers crossed* Yes, when I attend grad school
  3. I was browsing the Waiting it Out forum and saw people mentioning admissions committees reviewing LinkedIn and Facebook profiles. I've heard of this happening to med school applicants, but the thought that someone may check my profile never occurred to me. I signed into LinkedIn, and sure enough, I had a 'private mode' profile view Jan 3 - Jan 6. It could be coincidental, but has anyone else noticed anything like this? I don't have anything risqué on my Facebook, but I was glad to see that my account settings presented me in a mostly positive light for any rock nerd who should stumble across my profile. Has anyone else applied to Indiana University - Bloomington or Lehigh University? This wait is making me increasingly neurotic - running until exhaustion is the only thing helping me cope haha
  4. Double confirmed - very true. Alison is also the best story teller I know.
  5. Who did you apply to work with at UW? I might have some insights. It's okay if you would rather PM me with this info. I corresponded with Peter Eichhubl at UT. He told me to send him an email after I submitted my application materials. I'm hoping I did well enough on the GREs - they seem to be an important component of the application for Eichhubl. I spoke to one of his current grad students who said he's fairly hands off, so I'll only hear from the committee until I actually work for him (you know, if I get accepted). Did you apply with him too? I'm not worried about my letters of recommendation; I'm worried about my letter of intent. In hindsight, I feel like it's a shitty dry letter. One prof has RA funding, one said fellowships are possible, two said TA funding may be possible. So, only one of the profs I spoke to has funding, but I still have potential to be funded at the others. None of the schools I applied to admit students without funding. IMO, an acceptance without funding is a nice way to say you've been rejected.
