My friend has...I'm not 100% certain but it seems like interviews may have finished going out! She had a Skype interview with her POI and a phone interview with the director...she's supposed to hear a decision soon

I emailed the graduate secretary, who directed my email to the head of the department! She was really helpful, and told me that although the prof I am interested in working with isn't accepting students this year, I was on a shortlist for if other profs were interested. Who are you applying to?

@child_health yes, this is something that I think everyone does. In a lot of cases whether a prof can accept a student changes as time passes, due to a variety of reasons. It's especially up to chance at York I've noticed, as many profs don't say whether they are planning on taking a student, or are unsure.

@child_health thanks for the update...I actually emailed the head of the department and she told me my POI wasn't accepting this year. Big bummer @FacelessMage this process is soul crushing...it's hard not to think you did something wrong, but I'm sure that's not the case! It could be that it's just an extremely competitive year for the places you've applied.

No problem! It's a brutal time for us Canadians haha. I've applied to Guelph, Queens, York, Ryerson, Western, U Miami and U of Oregon. I had an interview at Ryerson last week, and I'll be interviewing at Guelph next Friday. Haven't heard from the other schools, although it looks like Western isn't likely seeing as the invites for my POI went out already.

Hmm, I wouldn't be so sure about that! I haven't heard of anyone getting interviews for those schools yet, although I also don't personally know anyone who applied to any of them :S To be honest, I don't think it's too late, lots of schools haven't sent out invites yet.

@Recoverygurl which programs have you applied to? It completely depends which schools you're waiting to hear from

So no dice for Dozois I guess! Tough year to apply to Western I guess

@Piagetsky Technically it's my second…I had such a busy final year of undergrad that I couldn't apply to all the schools I wanted to/put the effort I wanted to into my applications last year. It was worth it for the experience tho!
