@Imores congrats!!! Me too. See you on April 4th!!
-
@HettyFan you can always contact the program directors by email? I needed to know UMich's decision before the official results were announced and they were more than happy to inform me.
-
@angetry I emailed the director last week, and she said they rank applications tomorrow. And on Monday they'll start inviting candidates.. *fingers crossed*
-
Well, for the select few people who've yet to hear back from Pittsburgh, they've started sending out rejection letters..
-
@SuitCase i received my interview from UCI on sunday so hopefully you'll hear soon! but I havent heard back from UPitt either. I think Pitt is looking grim.. people have been receiving invitations since late January, and I emailed the director two weeks ago and she said they'd expect to have finished reviewing apps and finalizing decisions since last week. The interviews also start next week for UPitt so..
-
@weilongli1 I think suit + dress shirt, and tie. I dont think it ever hurts to overdress, it shows our dedication right?
-
@weilongli1 The director was so nice and personally emailed me to let me know that i landed an interview before letters were officially sent. I had told her beforehand I had an interview for vancouver on the 10th and thus the 14th would be the best for me as I'd be in the west coast, so she already got her admin to reserve me a spot for that date!! I would definitely call the admin, because shes not responsive at least with my experience! Hope to see you on the 14th!!!
-
@weilongli1 and other UCI applicants! the director emailed me back. They're actually sending out interviews today!! Hope to see y'all there
-
@weilongli1 I emailed the UCI program director last week and she said they should be sending out letters this week. Makes it so much more suspenseful, knowing if I don't hear from them by tomorrow!
-
Anyone hear back from JHU or UC Irvine yet? :|
-
@weilongli1 see you there! I picked my top 3 choices as Apr 13,15,18!
-
I'm not sure but it seems that on the UBC doodle poll they sent to us, me along 24 other applicants were already invited.
-
@gc21 I'm sorry to hear that! This is my second time applying to Wisconsin so I've received that crappy rejection letter from them before.. I haven't heard back from JHU either, and the director of UPitt emailed me back saying they're still reviewing applications, and interviews are not all sent at once so we still have a chance! Also, were you able to get advocacy/counseling experience in India?
-
@gc09621 @b5b7 I hope I'm not too late for my preference.. but I signed up for Apr11-12, with both of your dates as my second and third choice of preference. I wanted to sign up for an earlier date but its annoying because I'm still waiting for a response from Northwestern.. and I'm hoping to bunch those two close together since I'm flying from Canada.. Good luck to us all, and hopefully I'll see one of you if I dont end up getting my choice!
-
Wisconsins sending out interviews btw!! Just got mine today! Too excited!
-
@angetry welcome and congrats! I also just received both SLC and UBC today! The UBC date signup system was so weird though, I'm wondering if the interviews are only an hour each? :/
-
I found it! After you log in, click on the link in the sentence that says "Upon submission, you can check the status of your application and materials by visiting the following page: https://apply.slc.edu/apply/status"
-
@imorse and everyone else who applied.. SLC started sending interviews!
-
@imorse i emailed the slc directors last friday and they said they were still in the process of selecting candidates for interviews :/
-
@weilongli haha its nice to see another male applicant too! I see we're applying to a few overlapping schools, here's to us getting interviews at those schools! @luckyduck78 I'm somewhat similar to your situation in that my marks aren't stellar, but lets hope our experiences outside of academics lands us some interviews! I can tell you I got waitlisted for an interview at Utah last year (I wouldve landed one, but i winged my GRE and failed the math section way worse than you), so hopefully you'll hear from them soon! You have advocacy experience too so Im sure you'll land some interviews
-
@imorse lol not to mention 1/3 of our schools are French-speaking patients... Former students told me McGill only accepts 1 Anglophone each year out of the 4 spots (not sure if it changed), so basically its down to UofT and UBC for us..
-
My supervisor went to Wisconsin's GC program and she says they really do try to promote diversity these days... which is a bit unfair in my opinion (although I'm a male applicant so hope that works in my favor). Dangit I just wished they'd expand the programs to accept more people.
-
@gc09621 Your application is way stronger than mine! I didn't land any interviews last year, closest I got was being 'waitlisted for interviews' at Northwestern and Utah, and obviously everyone goes for interviews.. And I wouldn't give up on Minnesota, maybe they're sending it in batches!! I had to email Pittsburgh b/c I freaked out and saw someone receive an interview offer, and they told me they don't send all the interviews out on the same day ... Have you heard from Michigan yet? someone posted receiving a phone interview today :/ @jello310 around last week, you can check the applyweb to see if they uploaded the official rejection letter.
-
Canadian here also! I didn't get in last year because I lacked the advocacy.. so I applied to 11 schools this year (hella expensive :/)cGPA: 3.2/4GC Exposure: work/volunteering at 2 cancer genetics clinics (Breast/G.I Cancer Registry), with over 30 observation sessions for 1.5 years4 months of Disability exposure + 7 months crisis hotline experience2 years of wet lab research on disease modeling, and currently health policy and clinical genetics research volunteeringMy applications not the most competitive in terms of grades.. but surprisingly the feedback I received from directors was that they focus heavily on the pre-reqs grades and also your last two years. Only school I heard back from was a rejection letter so far.. - 3 Canadian Schools (Uoft/UBC/McGill)- SLC- Northwestern- Pittsburgh- Wisconsin- Michigan- Johns Hopkins U- Stanford (rejection letter 1/26)- UC Irvine
