  1. @sjoh197 @magnetite I am also playing the waiting game. Acceptance or rejected from UW is contingent upon my POI's NSF funding application results and he just hasn't heard anything from them yet. It's very stressful... my lease in my current apartment is up end of the summer so I need to know whether I should be looking for a new place to live here or across the country... I have no idea how long is realistic to wait for this.
  2. Sort of. My POI at UW still has not heard from NSF about his funding proposals so he can't make a decision yet. And CU told me that they do not have any funding but I think they're not rejecting me in case someone turns down departmental funding they can fight for. My hopes are very, very low though.
  3. I have been told by my connection in the department that all department funding has been "spoken for." Whether this means that these offers have all been accepted or if there's a chance someone will reject it and it will go to someone else though.... I'm not sure.
  4. I received two double Very Goods and a double excellent. No advice for how to improve, just glowing compliments. Is it appropriate to reach out and ask for further clarification for some critiques, as none were provided as to why I was not chosen? Sadly, this lack of funding has put the nail in the coffin of multiple of my school applications and likely for any acceptance at all. Funding is apparently proving very hard to come by for professors and students alike.
  5. Just saw this. I actually was contacted by my POI at Boulder (for a PhD) a few weeks ago and had a Skype interview. He is flying me out there this month. He told me that the department got more applicants than they usually do and the professors are all fighting for RA funding from the department and also waiting to hear back about their own funding/students' results from fellowship apps such as NSF GRFP.
  6. Thank you for the knowledge The group I applied to there was still uncertain on funding last I checked so we shall see...
  7. Do any of you have any knowledge about the time frame between hearing back from a program and their open house? I know from an acquaintance that UW ESS's invite-only open house is on 2/25, which being 2 weeks away seems like maybe some people should be hearing some things? He told me on Friday that he hasn't heard of anyone in the department sending out anything yet, so no panicking yet, but how long could they possibly wait before contacting potential students before the open house? This has been a very inquisitive post with loads of question marks...
  8. Thank you! I've lived in Boston and the surrounding area my whole life so I am actively trying to move my life elsewhere and have some new experiences, at least for some time.
