  1. Still waiting to hear back from St. Louis University. Apparently they had 5 offers, and they didn't inform rejections. I've solicited them once and got a vague response. I've followed up with another and have yet to hear from them. Crossing my fingers
  2. I just received an email from Father Vitali at SLU after inquiring about the status of my application. He said that "we have made offers and established a waiting list" but that my application was still "under consideration". He didn't mention rejections or how long the waiting list was or how many people have gotten offers. I figured I would put this out there if anybody was waiting to hear back from SLU.
  3. Somebody may have declined and you were on the top of the list. Congrats!
  4. Well if they have been notified, none of them are on Grad Cafe... I wish there was somewhere I could check my status
  5. Did you just get an email? I assume that they haven't rejected or accepted anybody today because there are none on the survey, just waitlists. However, that strikes me as odd.
  6. Who got waitlisted by SLU? I haven't heard anything all day... I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing.
  7. Sad days, I'm on the edge of my seat with anticipation about SLU
  8. I think this requires one of those dancing psychopaths but I'm not entirely sure how to put that gif in a post
  9. Super congratulations! That's incredible!
  10. Same, I'm hoping that we will both be able to get funding.
  11. I don't know, that's just what @jacbarcan predicted
  12. I was told that St. Louis University could possibly be sending out admit calls tomorrow. Crossing my fingers... hard.
  13. Brilliant, this is both terrifying and exciting. And thank you, it certainly relieves a lot of stress knowing that I have somewhere I can go in the Fall for sure.
  14. Has anybody heard anything from St. Louis University? Their decision is what my decision hinges upon, I was hoping that they'd be getting back to me rather quickly.
  15. @MVSCZAR I didn't realize you were doing ancient phil, could you send me a copy of that paper on the Noble Lie? I would love to read it!
  16. Thanks! I'm pretty excited about it and I'm very excited to get started on some serious PhD work.
  17. Just got a nice acceptance email from UT Knoxville! I'm on a waitlist for funding, so if anyone has better offers and also got accepted please let them know. I won't be able to go without funding. I am so happy that I finally have an option though! PhD here I come.
  18. There's nothing there at the moment for my application... so good news? I guess... the anticipation is murdering me
  19. Those who checked the app status for Loyola: How did you do that, mine just says "Submitted", am I looking in the right place?
  20. I am waiting patiently for any news from WUSTL or Loyola Chicago, apparently they've begun sending out letters today... my hands are shaking with anticipation as I type this.
  21. Same here, but my mind was lost a while ago.
  22. I will when I get home! I think you're correct, I was mistaking ποιον for ποιων and was very confused. They are similar in their quality of being qualities, but they are used (sometimes) in a way that seems to be contradictory in nature. They're different (maybe) in the subcategories that exists in the category of qualities.
  23. You are correct in questioning the categorical difference between the two, it is certainly the shakiest of the relationships. My paper focuses primarily on deconstructing Aristotle's own words regardless of word origin (though perhaps I misunderstand what you mean by "instances of ποῖον"). I note this by claiming that there are a few cases where it seems they might be categorically different but this is not set in stone, this is just a possible interpretation. The real core of the paper is to make sure we take a skeptical approach to reading Aristotle when it comes to making arguments that hinge on linguistic consistency. That being said, I don't want to hijack this thread with my very specific interest I can also send you my paper if you'd like to read it. I'm keen to hear any comments or criticism you can offer.
