  1. Still waiting to hear back from St. Louis University. Apparently they had 5 offers, and they didn't inform rejections. I've solicited them once and got a vague response. I've followed up with another and have yet to hear from them.

    Crossing my fingers

  2. I just received an email from Father Vitali at SLU after inquiring about the status of my application. He said that "we have made offers and established a waiting list" but that my application was still "under consideration". He didn't mention rejections or how long the waiting list was or how many people have gotten offers. I figured I would put this out there if anybody was waiting to hear back from SLU.

I just got a letter of acceptance from UCSD. Kinda late considering the other acceptances went out nearly a month ago, but hey. No complaints. No word of funding yet.

Somebody may have declined and you were on the top of the list. Congrats!

I replied to my wait list notification at Saint Louis, and in the reply email it was mentioned that they've "admitted 5" as of now. Whether those 5 have been notified as of yet I don't know. It seems, though, that all decisions have been made.

Well if they have been notified, none of them are on Grad Cafe... I wish there was somewhere I could check my status

I have one of the SLU wait lists. No idea if they've released acceptances or not.

Did you just get an email? I assume that they haven't rejected or accepted anybody today because there are none on the survey, just waitlists. However, that strikes me as odd.

It's probably a bad prediction. We don't take into account important changes like when there is a different DGS or deadline (because of how hard it is to gather all that information not because we think they shouldn't account for a prediction change).

Sad days, I'm on the edge of my seat with anticipation about SLU

I AM ALSO ONE OF THE NOTRE DAME ADMITS!!!! I have been a lil bundle of suffering and anxiety these past few weeks so I cannot even express how relieved/elated I am!!!! This is my first acceptance after 6 rejections, so I really needed this. Best of luck to the rest of you!! Also I am currently getting my undergrad from Notre Dame so if anyone wants to ask me questions about the department, feel free!! There's lots of cool cats here.

    That's awesome! Congrats!

Our resident expert @jacbarcan's prediction for St. Louis is tomorrow, so hopefully you'll hear very soon! Congrats on your Knoxville admit!

Brilliant, this is both terrifying and exciting. And thank you, it certainly relieves a lot of stress knowing that I have somewhere I can go in the Fall for sure.

My status update is at the top of the page a line after my application reference number, right before the Verify Address line.

There's nothing there at the moment for my application... so good news? I guess... the anticipation is murdering me

Amen to all of the above. Not a single peep - no emails, no letter, no calls, not a thing from a single department. I'm pretty sure I'm losing my mind?

Same here, but my mind was lost a while ago.

    Send it!

I imagine he means to say that eudaimonia and makarios are both qualities and, in that sense, aren't categorically different.

I will when I get home! I think you're correct, I was mistaking ποιον for ποιων and was very confused. They are similar in their quality of being qualities, but they are used (sometimes) in a way that seems to be contradictory in nature. They're different (maybe) in the subcategories that exists in the category of qualities.

Categorically different? Surely they're both instances of ποῖον, no?

You are correct in questioning the categorical difference between the two, it is certainly the shakiest of the relationships. My paper focuses primarily on deconstructing Aristotle's own words regardless of word origin (though perhaps I misunderstand what you mean by "instances of ποῖον"). I note this by claiming that there are a few cases where it seems they might be categorically different but this is not set in stone, this is just a possible interpretation. The real core of the paper is to make sure we take a skeptical approach to reading Aristotle when it comes to making arguments that hinge on linguistic consistency.

That being said, I don't want to hijack this thread with my very specific interest :) I can also send you my paper if you'd like to read it. I'm keen to hear any comments or criticism you can offer.
