  1. Here is the Facebook group for anyone going to York U 2018 https://www.facebook.com/groups/185474341946292/
  2. Yes, same here as well. From my understanding, they give RA/TA/GA to all students! Did you check out your letter under communications online regarding minimum funding? According to Pam, we don't have to compete for that. I also did some looking into the RA/TA/GA jobs on the york cupe website and it just all looks amazing!
  3. Me too! I was accepted to York back in February and just got accepted into ryerson last weekend, and was also waitlisted into uoft! I don't know how that's even possible to be wait listed when I was accepted to two other programs. I've been going through all the pros and cons of both schools and the funding york offers always seems to out weight ryerson. I'm living down town Toronto, and ryerson is a skip away from me. What have you been thinking about the two schools!?
  4. Turns out I was accepted into ryerson a few weeks ago. A neglected voicemail From ryerson was stored on my phone for a for weeks and I didn't notice!
  5. Just got an email from ryerson that my status has updated, but it looks like it takes a bit before that changes online to see if it's good or bad news!
  6. If you don't mind me asking, what is your GPA and did you apply for advanced stnadidng?
  7. I believe last year results started rolling out on march 6, so should be any day!
  8. I can not wait any longer to get the York admissions/funding in the mail. If anyone has received their package yet, please let us know! Thank you thank you!
  9. To everyone on here who had graduated from the York MSW program, do you remember how long after your acceptance that you received your official letter / funding package in the mail? Thanks!
  10. I got an email first and then my status changed two days later and then I was able to accept online.
  11. I was accepted into a graduate program via email Feb 24 @ York
  12. Congratulations! I'll see you this Autumn, i'll be in the full time advance standing!
  13. I went on a campus tour two days ago and found out a lot of these questions from the tourer. Bringing a car is very expensive. The parking inside the campus is $500 per 3 months. There are these home just outside the campus for student to rent (not associated with the campus) and sometimes you can rent a spot there for like $50. There are lots of residence options. If you are 24+ I believe you are eligible for mature housing. Otherwise, there are lots of other option to share rooms or share houses, etcs,. The meal hall, I think they call it student hall, is HUGE. There are like 30 spots or more to get food from, they have a salon, dentists, salons, doctors, pubs, a huge shoppers, etc etc. If you swing back to the forum started the beginning of this year (Canadian MSW waiting game 2017) you'll see near the beginning a length post about the program. Aside from it being not clinical, it's a very competitive program and has a great reputation. They only accept 20-30 people and basically offer a graduate assistantship to everyone (all these details are on the website) values at $5000-$8000 working somewheres like 135 hours over the three terms (adv standing) that you go there. Also TTC transit passes for student are $119 a month and it's easy to get there via subway/bus.
  14. @lindaMSW Do you know if your friend has received anything in the mail regarding their acceptance packing/funding packing. I can't wait to get that big envelope in the mail!
  15. Hello Riaveda, I was in the same situation last year. My partner is in social work as well and got accepted into the UofT 2 year program and I was waitlisted at UofT and applied to so many other SW programs over Canada. Luckily I got into Lakehead Orillia and was able to move close to Toronto and maintain a better long distance relationship as compared to living so many hours apart. You are not alone in the wait and anxiety of all this potential life changing decisions that will come over the next week and months. 2-year admissions will be come out very soon for UofT and once those decisions are made you can take the next steps in solidifying your relationship and your own decisions in relation to school! Stay hopeful!
  16. I live an 8 minute drive away from the UofT faulty of social worK building (I live right downtown) and I have yet to receive a wait list in the mail. It makes me think there is hope and that they aren't done accept advance standing people. So, basically what I'm saying is you're not impatient!
  17. If it makes a difference for all of you who have been waiting for York, my online status didn't change until two days after I received my acceptance via email (acceptance came via email from Brandon E.). Hopefully some news will come out this week. In my acceptance letter, it states that we only have 10 business days to accept our offer. I image after that time period they will send out further acceptances.
  18. Hey everyone! Here is the Facebook group for York University MSW Class of 2018! https://www.facebook.com/groups/185474341946292/
  19. What's everyone's opinion on York University? Even though it's not clinical, I always viewed it as being more competitive and harder to get into. Although I am so grateful to be accepted, I'm confused how I am once again wait listed at UofT. I thought I never had a chance with York, but some how it's the other way around. Also, what does everyone think of York versus Ryerson (pros/cons)?
  20. Thank you, thank you, thank you! For everyone who thinks about giving up because the process of applying and being let down constantly is discouraging, please persevere when faced with difficulty. Follow your dreams because the moment when you are rewarded will outweigh any and all past feelings of anxiety, fear and discouragement! I hope everyone here reaches their dreams, because you all deserve the it!
  21. OMG Just received an offer to York via email! ITS HAPPENING! Sitting in bed crying way too much! After applying three years in a row and complete the post HBSW at lake head, I can say it was all worth it now!
  22. My last name is also at the end of the alphabet, and my stream is a less popular one (social justice). If the categorization by last name is a real thing, this will be a game changer I hope! (I didn't get accepted during the first round for UofT)
  23. You are a wonderful soul! It was pretty hard to see I didn't get accepted today, and it led to a roller coaster day of tears, panic and anxiety. Thanks for your kind words, they are greatly appreciated!
