  1. I applied to 10 schools for Physics PhD programs and have only heard back from 1 so far (rejection). I just received acceptance for a competitive paid summer program at a national lab to do work in my desired field of study. I feel like this is a great supplement to my applications, but I'm not sure how to go about sending the information to the schools. There doesn't seem to be a way to add random additional materials on any of the web forms themselves. Do I send the department an email? How do I approach constructing such an email? Who at the school should I send the email to? Do I include anything as proof? Do I link to the program website? Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance!
  2. So Cornell sent out an email to their Physics PhD applicants at 9AM last Friday saying "All admissions decisions will go out over the course of the next week." Well, it's been a week and from what I can gather, everyone has heard back EXCEPT anyone who applied for one particular research area. No admissions, no rejections. Just limbo. The lot of us are on the edge of our seats, posting on the results page to let each other know that we're not alone. Nobody knows what's going on. The radio silence is so much more nerve-wracking after getting the 1-week notice. I guess the business day isn't quite over so it's possible we will hear back tonight. Nevertheless, anxiety is at an all-time high.
