Where did you find the information on where to send the check and how to address it? I couldn't find any specific instructions on website or acceptance letter.

I also appealed and received 2k more a semester. It isn't as much as I was hoping for, but every little bit helps!

I was informed that I would hear about my appeal by March 9th. Hopefully I get some good news!

I sent an email to swfinaid@columbia.edu inquiring about the appeal process. I was instructed to email Debbie Lesperance at dl635@columbia.edu and submit my appeal, including any offers from other schools. I did that this afternoon, so I will let everyone know if it works. Even a little extra aid would make me more willing to attend. Fingers crossed!

I just received my financial aid package. I got 14k a year in scholarship plus an extra 4k for work-study. That leaves me at least 80k in debt when everything is said and done. What does everyone think, is that debt worth it? I got offered a job in administration and policy for 40k after receiving my Bachelors in Social Work and Non-Profit Administration, but I don't know how much the salary for a similar position will increase after my MSW. To be fair I have no interest in clinical work and most of my experience is in supervising, policy, administration, resource management etc. Do you folks think that this kind of debt is manageable, especially with the cost of living in NY? I would have to get a job making at least 60k right out of grad school, or even more if I stay in NY after graduation. Which is possible, but difficult even in the field of macro social work. I would love to hear how other people are approaching this issue!

Do you think that the Columbia housing options are better? I have friends who in live in Wash Heights and Harlem and some of them pay as low as 600 a month for rent. True, their apartments aren't glamorous, but it frees up a lot of cash. Money is a big factor in my grad school decision, so I'd love to hear what you folks think about the cost of living near Columbia.

Still waiting on UWashington! I think that we should hear by the end of this week.

I think that the send out acceptance letters in waves, so don't feel discouraged yet! I would keep checking throughout this week. I hope that you get in!

Also just got my acceptance! Whew, such a HUGE sigh of relief. Hopefully more relief is on its way with my financial aid letter.

I applied by 12/1 and still haven't received anything from Columbia. I'm hoping to find out next week!

If I got rejected from UChicago, do you think it's possible for me to get into Columbia and UW-Seattle? I have a 3.3 overall GPA(3.8 Social work major GPA), 4+ years working in nonprofits, and I currently work at an international NGO in Southern India. I know that my GPA isn't amazing, but I felt like my essay, references, and experiences were enough to compensate. Honestly, I was pretty surprised by the rejection and now I'm terrified that I won't get into my first choice- UW. What do you guys think? Hopefully I'll find out soon!

I have the same question! I got a rejection from the University of Chicago, but I still haven't heard from UW or Columbia. Has anyone else been notified? I wasn't prepared for how stressful this wait has become.
