  1. For me, getting into Graduate school, especially Hunter Silberman School of Social Work, is thus far my greatest accomplishment. In 2014, I was told by a supervisor that he was not going to offer me a Director position because I did not have my MSW, yet I was qualified enough to train my supervisor (who had her MSW) to supervise me. #FML

I'm happy to be starting the next chapter in my life and for finally having the balls to move towards adulthood.

Just wanted to post that I just got my acceptance email! I'm so excited!!  I still have not made a final decision (got into a few others as well) as I would have to move to the city and uproot my entire life, but chances are I will end up accepting. For those who are still waiting, he process really speeds up once you are invited, before that it's a mess.

Congratulations! I go in on Friday for my interview, so I am happy to read that the process speeds up after the interview. Good luck with everything, hopefully we'll be in the same class :)

I finally got a change on my application and it says 'pending program decision.' Don't know if that a good thing because people talk about getting 'pending interview?'

My application said that also and I harassed them via phone and email. Finally someone got back to me from their office and asked me a few questions over the phone. I applied for the OYR Clinical track program, but they felt my current job description did not match what I wanted to pursue. Fortunately, I was able to explain the situation, she pushed my application through, and that night I received an invitation for any interview.

It seems like the only way to get your stuff through is by harassing them lol

Should I be worried if I haven't heard anything at this point? I applied for the 2 yr full time COP&D. My application still says 'application completed.'

I am super worried because I applied to their OYR program and have not heard back from them and no one seems to be around to answer my questions.

    @Jewelz423 Thanks for the info!

And no idea if anyone was asking or anything, but they changed my status about two days after I contacted the admissions office about my application. I still haven't gotten a date yet, but I hope I find out soon.

    And best of luck @nameisheng!

What number did you call because I feel like I cannot get through to anyone.

    Two year clinical

Okay. So you just gave me a sliver of hope. I applied to the OYR program and their deadline is April 1st. So I am hoping that they start looking at apps by late March early April for this program.

I also applied to Hunter, but apparently they did not start reviewing applications until the deadline (Feb 1) and have so many to look over. I'm assuming we will not hear back from them for a bit because they do have to do the group interviews as well.

Thank you for this update! The deadline for the OYR program is April 1st, but I submitted my application two months in advance. Anxious me thought that they might review my application now as opposed to closer to the April deadline.

What program did you apply for @alyssak112?

  8. I applied to Hunter College Silberman School of Social Work's One Year Residency Program. I submitted my application on February 1st and my application was officially filed as complete on February 10th. I am beyond anxious and obsessively checking my account for a status update. Has anyone else applied to Hunter?

  9. Hi All,

I applied to Hunter College's OYR MSW Program on February 3rd and my application was officially submitted to Admissions on February 10th. I am freaking out!! I had my whole team (my supervisor, colleagues, and Best Friends) help me with this application, in particular my personal statement and my recommendations. My anxiety is extremely high right now because although I have a few years of experience in their other two tracks, I applied for their clinical track. More so because I feel that with a clinical track degree, I can actually begin to help the hundreds of youth that come in to our offices with mental health issues, crises, and intervention.

Any who, this is my first time applying to graduate school and this was the only school that I applied to. I'm unfamiliar with how this process works, so any feedback that you all can give me would be great. Good luck to everyone applying for graduate school for the Fall 2016 semester. Fingers crossed we all get accepted :)
